For decades, JCPenney Portraits has welcomed families into its friendly studios, where photographers expertly photograph subjects of any age. Digital cameras, professional lighting, and a wide selection of backgrounds all work together to ensure a polished, personalized look for every family portrait, school picture, business headshot, or baby announcement. To customize the session even more, the staff also encourages guests to incorporate items with special meaning such as a baby blanket, a family heirloom, or the wishbone from grandma's first Thanksgiving.
After the final flash, clients and a team member head to the viewing kiosk, where they can select their photos and customize them. Beyond prints, memories may also be preserved on high-resolution MyImages CDs, gallery wraps, or through JCPenney Portraits' archival program, which allows clients to store and share their portraits online.
Party photos might revive memories, but videos offer some added clarity. That's why It's Flippin Fun's photo booths invite party guests to make their own short films—up to eight seconds long—in front of the camera. However, you won't need a smartphone or tablet to watch them back—in fact, you won't even need electricity. Within two minutes of a bride and groom filming a smooch or birthday partiers recording eight glorious seconds of the Reverse Worm, the employees that staff the booth hand over a flipbook printed with the moving picture. Guests can take home a flipbook of their own film, and party hosts can watch them on a DVD compilation.
The team at 4D Mommies specializes in snapping baby portraits?before babies are born. Instead of traditional cameras, the specialists harness ultrasound technology to shoot pictures and videos of soon-to-be-newborns. They can capture a baby's face as early as the 26th week, and can usually identify its gender at 15 weeks. As ultrasounds unfold, visitors can share the images with their family and friends in real time, courtesy of live-streaming Sonostream technology.
The HD-recording equipment used by Dan Black Studios's staff today would seem alien 30 years ago, when the company was founded. Just as their work has changed with the times, their video-digitization services bring families' old tapes into the digital age, preserving memories for decades to come. The Dan Black team also shoots HD video for local clients and national TV networks, capturing professional work on location or at their 2,000-square-foot sound stage.
