The trainers at The Body Shop—led by owner Elizabeth Carnley—aim to help clients make the most of that situation. Their women-only classes are designed to build muscle, increase endurance, and burn fat. They set hearts racing in high-energy Zumba dance classes, or build muscular power with boot camps that incorporate heavy dumbbell lifting, one of Elizabeth's favorite exercises. To keep their students motivated, they provide gentle verbal encouragement and festoon the walls with posters with phrases such as "Sweat is Fat Crying" or "Your Brain is Not a Negative Integer." To make their classes as convenient as possible, the studio hosts a first-come, first-served childcare service, capable of looking after up to ten tykes at a time.
