After Alexandra studied nursing at the University of Portland, she spent four years as a cardiac and post-surgical nurse. Her patients' ailments have run the gamut from cancer to mental illness. To bolster her Western medical background, Alexandra studied one-on-one with a Reiki master. She also honed this skill—which enables her to be a conduit for the universal life energy—at both the Meta Institute and the Laho-Chi Institute.

Alexandra also incorporates yoga into her services and personal practice through the knowledge she gained at The Minneapolis Yoga Center. When she isn't working as a hospice nurse, she brings healing to others through yoga, Reiki, and chakra balancing at Beautiful Wings. There, she shares the wisdom she's gained while journeying through life. She strives to share the healing power of unconditional love.

The Life Time Turkey Day 5K jump-starts Thanksgiving celebrations with a healthy, full-body feast of exercise, with proceeds benefiting local food organizations. Starting on the world-famous Fremont Street, pavement stompers weave past the historic downtown vistas lining Las Vegas Boulevard, home to myriad celebrities, reality television shows, and retired slot machines. After coasting to a finish beneath the Fremont Street Experience, participants gather for a postrace party, where refreshments, music, and chances to win prizes from sponsors accompany huffs and puffs of accomplishment. Additionally, strollers are permitted during the race but must line up behind individual runners and must not be equipped with nitrous.

Everyone has different fitness goals. That's part of why Jahmale, the trainer at Max Fit Wellness, is glad to have such a diverse background. He's played football, run track, and wrestled, so he knows how to work with burgeoning athletes. But he's also prepared to help people get back on their feet after and injury or lead martial-arts training by drawing on a broad range of certifications from the International Sports Sciences Association, National Academy of Sports Medicine, and others.

Align Pilates’ barre classes are an eclectic blend. Their union of an energetic cardio workout with the muscle-toning properties of Pilates and yoga and the sculpting power of ballet garnered them the title of Best New Workout of 2011 by Minnesota Monthly. In these sessions, students of all experience levels build lean muscle and burn fat at the decade-old fitness studio. Its team of teachers—all of whom have completed a minimum of 500 hours of training—also lead Pilates classes that unfold on mats. Hula hoops, candlelight, and Vinyasa flow augment yoga classes with focuses such as alignment, breathing, and detoxification.

Pilates' isometric moves are all designed around the same goal: strengthening the entire core from the abs to the back extensors. It's fitting, then, that such a core-centric workout also forms the core of Six Degrees' fitness curriculum. Originally, owner and Pilates enthusiast Emily Easton founded the fitness haven as a Pilates studio.

Today, however, she and her team have branched out into a variety of related workouts. Their schedule encompasses sessions in an array of yoga styles, ballet barre fitness, and an up-and-coming new class style, POUND. During POUND sessions, each participant receives a pair of lightly-weighted sticks, dubbed Rip Sticks. The instructors then lead them in a calorie-burning routine that looks like high-octane air drumming to some or a free-breadsticks victory dance to others.

With stress levels on the rise, it's important to take a day to take care of yourself. Fortunately, Rejuva GlowSpa lets you do just that?literally. Here, clients actually self-administer many of their own treatments using automated machines that can do everything from massage sore muscles to hydrate the skin.

The Hydration Station is a pod-like unit that encloses the body from the shoulders down, moisturizing the skin with vitamin-infused steam that may help boost collagen production. There's also beds for hydro-massage and red-light therapy, the latter of which may boost blood flow and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The spa even provides tanning services in the form of UV beds and California Tan airbrush sessions.
