  • The Doorway Massage
Signature Service: Deep tissue massage, especially 1.5+ hours Brands Used: We have our own signature line of aromatherapy products Established: 2003 Reservations/Appointments: Required Handicap Accessible: Yes Staff Size: 2?10 people Pro Tip: Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to fill out our form, [which ensures] we can start on time. Q&A with the Owner Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job? Providing anatomically specific massage therapy gives us the opportunity to heal people. It is so incredible to have a client come in [with] pain, discomfort, or reduced ability and be able to help them toward improving these conditions. We take time to educate the client so that they can best understand what created the condition... and what they can [or] should do to help themselves recover as fast as possible. What is the best reaction you?ve ever gotten from a client? [One of my favorites was] that of a young man who has cerebral palsy and spends his life bent over crutches. After one of his massages, he told me that he felt so good he thought he could limbo. The other [came from] an 86 year-old man who had a medical condition that had reduced one shoulder and one hip to the point where he had only 15% range-of-motion in both joints. [When] he came in for his next massage [he told] me: "Last time when I left, I felt so good that I skipped to my car." How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life? I grew up exposed to massage and have always had a gift for it, but in high school there was a basketball player...[to whom] I would give a forearm-and-hand massage before many games, and she would always come back and tell me how much better she played after those massages. I still see her for appointments. Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover? Many massage practices [prioritize] the "rest and relaxation" service and spa-like atmosphere, and the therapeutic skill of the therapist is hit-or-miss at best. Our clinics focus on the skill of the therapists first and foremost. We provide a wide range of services including ones that will target your areas of concern with precision or... that will absolutely melt you. Our offices provide a cozy?and some might say quaint?atmosphere. Our north office (2206 44th Ave.) has free, on-street parking on 44th. Our downtown office has a free parking lot and metered street parking.

  • Psi Bodywork
PSI Bodywork's founder Devin began his career as a massage therapist more than a decade ago. He's seen a lot of tense and sore muscles in the interim, and finds himself particularly drawn to helping athletes stay limber as they train hard. That doesn't mean his massages aren't relaxing, though. He employs modalities that range from the kind of gentle touch one might find in a spa to the the thorough assisted stretching associated with sports medicine, injury relief, and the frightening discovery that you are actually made of Playdough. A Chat with PSI Bodywork What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? Massage clients range from people in need of injury-based recovery to those simply taking some time to treat one's self to some good "R & R". Therapy styles include: Swedish, deep-tissue, foot massage, lymphatic movement (for beauty and skin invigoration), prenatal, paramedical, and reflexology. What was the inspiration to start or run this business? Time is important to all of us, and therapeutic massage can shorten healing time from a number of injuries and stresses. In a time when we need to treat ourselves well, I saw the need to find a way to help others in ways that can aid long term. I have been blessed with 10 years of giving massages. What do you love most about your job? I am excited each day to find new ways to expand healing and wellness techniques. I love finding more natural ways of bringing a body to its peak condition, whether it be simple stress relief or aiding injury healing. I have been lucky to be a part of many client's wellness journeys. What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer? "Best Massage Ever" -Adella Nelson; "Massage kept me from having to go into surgery for my injury" - Stu Astleford; "I grew up with massage therapy in the house, good as my mother' - Becky Quan.

  • Oasis Massage and Wellness
Oasis Massage and Wellness provides a space "where natural pain relief meets spa indulgence." In the comfort of a private room, a licensed massage therapist can focus on trouble areas buried in the fascia during firm deep-tissue sessions; administer flowing Swedish strokes for full-body rejuvenation; or employ more specialized modalities, including trigger-point massage. Foot reflexology can help promote head-to-toe healing, thanks to the practitioners' understanding that reflex points in the feet can impact the whole body. Clients may also pair bodywork with sumptuous add-ons: hot stones maximize relaxation, and aromatherapy treatments ensnare the senses with the help of essential oils.
