Building upon the belief that yoga should be accessible for everyone, the dedicated and certified instructors focus on Vinyasa-flow classes that are open to all skill levels. The sunny, loft-like practice space, maintained at 80 degrees with 35%–40% humidity, helps warm muscles so that they safely sink to deep, healing stretches. Among the 20 classes open to yogis of all experience levels is a dedicated beginners' class on Sundays. A teacher training program is also available. After cooking at her family's restaurant for 20 years, Nina Wong struck out on her own with Chin Dian Caf? in 2005. Her new restaurant swiftly accumulated loyal fans, who'd crowd the dining room ordering their favorites and sampling dish after dish. And while it's not uncommon for diners to request to-go bags for their leftovers, at Chin Dian Caf?, servers started reporting something unexpected: customers wanted to take home bottles upon bottles of Chef Wong's sauces. Her signature ginger syrup got raves, her black stir-fry sauce was applauded, and her dumpling sauce was poured into handbags by the spoonful.
Chef Wong heard their enthusiasm?and answered it by creating her own line of syrups and sauces. But the more ambitious home chefs among her fan base were still not satisfied and wanted to learn her recipes. That's how she came to open Nina Wong Cooking Studio, where she now teaches enrollees to craft spring rolls and other dishes in her hands-on classes.
Instead of facing off against rival universities, Augsburg College athletes tackle a different opponent in the summer: boredom. Led by camp director and Augsburg College head football coach Frank Haege, the camps pair the school's athletes and coaches with youths for sessions packed with fun drills and games. Depending on the age group, each camp focuses on a different level of offensive and defensive instructions; younger kids’ non-padded, non-contact camps are peppered with motivational sessions, and high schoolers’ conditioning testing strengthens them for full-contact drills. All-day middle-school camps are also non-contact and instill a sense of friendly competition with flag-football matches and other activities such as dodge ball.
Started in 1998, Fired Up Studios has quickly evolved from a small pottery studio to an art center with classes and a gallery. Despite this growth, its mission remains the same: to raise the spirits of anyone who enters. In the 7,200-square-foot studio, experienced potters provide a judgment-free creative outlet for students and visiting artists alike, inviting them to have fun and experiment with the studio's collection of pottery wheels, kilns, and glazes. These potters also teach students how to throw clay, shape up elegant bowls and vases, and sculpt pixelization onto nude figures.
