The Beauchesne family, founders of Beau's All Natural Brewing Co., know that music and beer go well together. However, that doesn't simply mean that they enjoy sipping beer while listening to music. They've actually based their hands-on brewing process around the strong work ethic of DIY musicians. Several employees even play in the brewery's resident band, Audio.
The brewery's beer is as unique as its music-centered personality. "The beer, made with certified organic malt and local spring water, is just as refreshing as its quirky branding,? said Ottawa Magazine in its 101 Tastes To Try Before You Die list. Lug?Tread lagered ale, belgian dubbel, and vanilla porter are among its award-winning brews. Ever involved with the community, Beau's All Natural Brewing Co. frequently organizes dinners, music nights, and other events at local spots.
With machines set up in rows to encourage competition, many ordinary gyms cater to men's bodies and psychology, right down to the urinals that were "accidentally" installed in the women's locker room. At Curves, you'll move around a circuit that positions machines inward so that you'll have a chance to laugh with your fellow fitness frontierswomen while raising your heart rate and burning calories with a complete aerobic and strength-training workout. Hydraulic resistance machines are designed to work with women's bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage your machine manoeuvring and your muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing your momentum, the hydraulic machines use your body weight and fitness level to create resistance that matches your abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.
After careers in psychological and social services, husband-wife team Ed and Shirley switched gears and spent a decade running a motel. With those years of experience in guest services behind them, they decided to focus on a smaller enterprise with luxurious, individual attention?and so, in 2011, Abadin Bed and Breakfast was born near the banks of the Ottawa River. It's named after a small municipality in Spain that the couple has travelled through, and is inspired by Europe's bed and breakfasts. And because Shirley is an artist, she and Ed have filled the rooms and grounds with intriguing, contemporary artwork and modern furniture.
Travel-weary guests can relax on the lounge room's white leather lounge chairs in front of the fireplace before apparating up to queen and king rooms. Ed and Shirley decorated each room individually, so guests might open the door to an airy space with white and cream tones, or a daring purple-and-black suite. Each room's 40-inch LCD TVs is outfitted with a media player and cable, which guests can watch as they snuggle into bathrobes and bounce on pillow-top mattresses. In the morning, the iPod docking station's alarm clock rouses them for a hot, plated breakfast. Behind the greek-revival-style mansion, a swimming pool and cozy patio give guests a chance to kick back and perfect their dolphin-show routines.
Nestled along the bank of the Ottawa River, DéjaVu regales guests with an entertaining fusion of internationally inspired pub grub and a lively nightclub atmosphere. In the kitchen, chefs grill steaks and seafood or assemble main courses spotlighting flavours from Mexico, China, Thailand, Italy, and Greece. Diners can feast on this eclectic fare on the sunny patio or amid an earth-toned interior decked with glossy stone tables, televisions airing sports, and pool tables. At night, DéjaVu's neon-fringed dance floor comes alive with live bands, energetic DJs, raucous foam parties, and profound discussions on maritime law.:
Driven by a desire to share their passion for luxury and classic cars, the crew at Dream Car Rentals founded an independent rental agency that places customers behind the wheel of Ferraris, Porsches, Audis, and Dodges. They deliver their fleet of five cars directly to clients for weekend rentals, special events, day-long joyrides, or unplanned visits from 1980s action-film stars. They also coordinate race days, when customers can pilot the four-wheeled steeds on the 3.4-kilometre Circuit iCar course or the 5-kilometre topographic track at Calabogie Motorsports Park, which features 20 sharp turns and an anti-minotaur security system.
