Romana Valji and Salima Nazir have been friends for a decade now, and Sanam's Boutique & Salon —named after Nazir's daughter—represents the blossoming of their bond since they emigrated from Pakistan in 2007. The dream began in their homes, where they designed elegant, richly embroidered shirtdresses and gowns. After a family friend announced she was having a baby and needed someone to help manage her fledgling salon, Nazir and Valji fused both businesses into the beauty haven that it is today.
In the bright front room—where lights resembling movie-set lamps spotlight mod black leather chairs—stylists use Goldwell products to create lush, long layers and glamorous blowouts. A semicircular cutout in the far wall reveals a shelf of OPI polish in the nailcare nook, where a cushy pedicure throne presides over a white table with UV lamps for curing Shellac manicures. One room in back reveals racks of Nazir and Valji's flowing, jewel-toned robes, which they encrust with floral-patterned kora and dabka according to their own taste or alter the shape, material, and color to suit their clients' wishes for elegant gowns or bespoke burlap sacks. The other chamber hides a comfortable table for massages and a diamond-microdermabrasion machine used by the staff's aesthetician in tandem with products from the Parisian skincare line Yon-Ka.
At Vera Medi-Spa and Salon, beauty isn't the ultimate goal; it’s merely a step in the staff's ongoing quest to help boost each client's self-esteem. To help customers feel more comfortable in their own skin, the spa's professionals wield Palomar laser technology to banish unwanted hair or clear away unsightly veins, age spots, and other imperfections. Those looking to repair their love-hate relationship with an outdated hairdo or glued-on top hat can put their heads in the hands of the salon's stylists, who update strands with L'Oréal Professionnel Matrix and colour products. Because stress can have a large impact on well-being, the spa invites guests to put their feet up during relaxing mani-pedis or lie down to enjoy the tension-taming benefits of an aromatherapy massage, and facials help erase signs of tension on the face with anti-aging benefits from Guinot products.
Antech Hair & Skin Clinics’ ensemble of highly trained staff members have been revamping hair and skin via a combination of effective technology and natural biostimulants for more than 25 years. Private, personalized treatments bolster appearances through microdermabrasion with the DermaPod system, instant teeth-whitening sessions, and IPL hair-removal treatments that smooth bodies for faster swims to work. Meanwhile, the center's signature five-step hair-loss therapy merges scientific serums and herbal remedies to cleanse follicles of growth-inhibiting debris and help heads grow glossy crops of hair.
At Escape Studio Hair & Spa, stylists and aestheticians aim to create an unforgettable experience for every client. They believe that a trip to the spa should be enjoyed and therefore recommend that clients budget enough time to kick back, relax, and learn a whale song or two. The studio's stylists offer a full menu of hair services, complete with colouring treatments and cuts for women, men, and children. In the spa, aestheticians wax body hair and pamper nails, backs, and skin. Laser treatments round out the spa's offerings?aestheticians use the highly concentrated light to reduce hair and diminish the appearance of sun spots, hyperpigmentation, and vessels.
Anthony Cali draws from more than 12 years experience in hairstyling and fashion to transform hair. Cali and his team of stylists perform a number of services that nourish, perm, or refresh hair after taking a swim in a giant fondue-cheese pool at an eccentric millionaire’s party. Keratin treatments infuse hair with proteins and 100% natural human-hair extensions add length to strands. Stylists use products from label.m, L'Oreal, Purology, Keratin Complex, and milk_shake during cuts, colors, and styling services that include curling, updos, and flat-ironing.
Helmed by Dominic Bazinet, who has trained at hair academies in London, Paris, and Los Angeles as well as in New York with Nick Arrojo of TLC's What Not to Wear, the team of stylists at Salon Bardot, an Aveda Concept salon, shape manes to suit each client's personal style. Specializing in colour correction, stylists re-tint hair to the perfect hue in addition to brushing in fresh sun-kissed highlights, repairing damage with conditioning treatments, and blow-drying newly trimmed tresses to a glossy shine as sleek as a waterfall of Lamborghinis.
