A team of talented instructors hones fret-savvy fingers in a variety of musical genres in Valley Music Institute's in-depth private lessons. Budding guitarists glean easy approaches to the tunes and techniques of their favorite styles, shredding the power chords of rock, the complex progressions of jazz, or the subtle hair-gel stylings of classic metal as teachers borrow from their collective training to lavish students with tailored instruction. Beginner students can spend a single session exploring a new instrument or hit the ground running with a trio of lessons to build on new knowledge and refine finger finesse. Though not included with this Groupon, six-string scholars can extend their sessions into the realm of superstar training with the center's comprehensive rock-band program.
Of the 12 music teachers at Barker's Music, most have taught there for more than 18 years. So all of the instructors have plenty of experience teaching their chosen instrument. Music lessons cover piano, guitar and bass, violin, drums, harmonica, and voice. But the staff members also demonstrate their musical expertise in other ways, including tuning pianos and repairing guitars. And party hosts can call upon the Kyle Barker Band, which plays events ranging from birthdays to going-away parties for your noise-sensitive neighbors.
A veteran guitarist for 36 years, instructor Kenneth Dale Falkenberg schools scores of burgeoning and seasoned musicians in the creative confines of his music studio. During each one-on-one 30-minute lesson, students can tackle guitar, bass, piano, or keyboards under the direct guidance of the seasoned strummer and his auxiliary team of friendly, accredited instructors. Open to both children and adults, students take cosmic leaps forward in their musical explorations, reading tab music while learning various chords and ancient alien hieroglyphs. Each studio session ensures pupils gain a greater understanding of basic song comprehension that, after the fourth class, allows them to begin reading music from books and play along with the recognizable hum of a favorite radio song or summer blockbuster soundtrack.
A-Plus Learning aides everyone from kindergartners to college students in the learning process. Prior to one-on-one tutoring, pupils are given an assessment that helps determine goals. Students then work on those goals during one-hour sessions, getting help with homework and practicing writing, mathematics, and science skills with a focus on personal growth. The center's music lessons, valid only in the Stockton-area, provide hands-on experience in percussion, piano, or theory, whereas life-skills coaching targets study habits, family support, or career coaching to help participants succeed in every part of their lives. The center only hires tutors with a four-year degree, and parents are required to be present during sessions.
