Bronzed Image Tanning darkens and de-blemishes human hides with an arsenal of sun-imitating technology and non-UV machines. The stylists at Fantastic Sams keep things simple—but that doesn't mean plain. These mane-makers fill a head of hair's everyday needs with services such as haircuts for everyone, styles, facial waxing, and lash extensions. They also go beyond basic services with conditioning treatments, foil highlights, and texture services more effective than simply slipping some gin into the shampoo. All services are complemented with their trademark Fantastic shampoo therapy, a treatment which includes a three-minute scalp massage and conditioning rinse.
In a homey diner setting with stained glass and a large mural that depicts a small town, patrons perk up for the day with PC's menu of European and American breakfast and lunch fare. True to its name, PC’s offers a diverse roster of classic pancakes, which can come flecked with bacon or chocolate chips; baked with fillings such as spiced apples and peaches; or spread thin as crepes and sewn onto the elbows of sports jackets.
Not content to let pancakes hoard all the oven territory, thick-baked omelets jostle for space with hearty fillings such as portabella mushrooms, red peppers, and cheese. Fresh-squeezed orange and grapefruit juice make for a refreshing quaff, and cups of Kona coffee—specially blended for the café—send toasty aromas steaming into the air alongside carafes of real whipping cream.
Sandwiches and salads populate a lunchier section of the menu, alongside burgers such as the towering Lemont-ster burger: dual half-pound patties draped in cheddar, toasted onion strings, and thousand-island dressing.
Though Miracles' quirky and diversely talented staff of stylists, massage therapists, and aestheticians aims to lift patrons' spirits with beauty transformations, their work did not wholly inspire the salon's name—the beauty sanctuary's original location was inside an old church. Owner Kendalia Edelman has since expanded her business into a larger location, enabling her to add an area for laser treatments that target everything from excess hair to leg veins. She also found space for Little Miracles, a separate salon where kids up to age 9 can get haircuts with supervision from parents and invisible friends moonlighting as style consultants.
Salon KB’s fleet of stylists and aestheticians strives to relax guests and improve skin through a slew of services that include haircutting, facials, and waxing. Dana Bott, the resident aesthetician, performs a variety of facials that target various skin ailments, including rosacea, acne, and signs of aging. Dana also applies makeup for her clients, helping them feel more radiant or explore new looks. When it comes to hair, the salon’s trio of stylists works to manipulate locks into fashionable coifs as they perform haircuts and coloring services. Several deep-conditioning treatments are available to extend the longevity of hair coloring or to make hair softer and more likely to be okay with being cut in half.
At Art & Soul Tattoo and Gallery, artists decorate more than bodies. They also adorn the walls. In addition to its staff of talented tattoo, piercing, and permanent-makeup artists, the business also welcomes local painters and sculptors to showcase their work in the gallery. So on their way to commission some fresh ink, customers can peruse and purchase a slightly less permanent form of art.
