As a child growing up in the former Yugoslavia, Dragica Grabovac unleashed her love of cooking by baking dozens upon dozens of holiday cookies in her family's kitchen. After coming to Los Angeles as an adult, she continued to nurture her culinary skills by entertaining guests from across Europe and the United States. Today, she draws on that rich background while preparing schnitzel, crepes, stuffed cabbage, and other Croatian-inspired cuisine at Cafe LuMar. She also stocks close to 200 items imported from Croatia, including jams, smoked meats, and wine, according to Pasadena Star News.

Growing up in Torre Del Greco in Naples, Italy, Rosario and Maria Ulloa-Severino learned the ins and outs of the restaurant industry from their families. After moving to the United States, the pair worked for years in the industry. Rosario served as a manager at such restaurants as Da Pasquale, while Maria honed her craft in the kitchen. Now at the helm of their own eatery, the couple welcome guests with such hearty Italian dishes as housemade gnocchi, filled with potato and drizzled with basil-laden tomato sauce.
