Owner Patricia Keenan and her staff bring years of expertise to clients of all ages and lifestyles at Uptowne Girl Salon. Located in the bustling heart of Montclair, the salon and spa helps patrons work with stylists to design new haircuts, welcome flattering highlights and color, or relax with a mani-pedi. No matter their chosen service, clients always keep one eye on the salon's lively look; a lime-green accent wall abuts intricately patterned wallpaper over each styling station. They can also refuel at a complimentary snack bar, where clients can sip coffee and lemonade.
Many twins grow up sharing similar interests: they might listen to the same music, favor the same foods, or blink at exactly the same time. Jamie and Jenn love to cut and style hair. In high school, they trained together under the Paul Mitchell curriculum, and then launched their careers immediately after graduation?testing their skills in the salons of Los Angeles and New York. Today, they still work together as the notoriously lively co-owners of Moxie Salon. Both are certified in LaBella hair-and-eyelash extensions. Jenn is a Wella-certified colorist, and Jamie is a recognized Motives makeup foundation specialist. Together, they lead a team of experienced stylists and colorists.
At both their original Ridgewood and new Montclair locations, stylists trim hair with custom cuts and transform heads into sassy sculptures with Marilyn Monroe?style curlers or Statue of Liberty?style bronze crowns. For many of these services, they use the salon's house brand of moisturizing-and-conditioning haircare products. But Moxie Salon's aestheticians don't limit their services to hair: they also bronze clients' skin with organic airbrush tanning and perform custom makeup applications using Motives products. They even helm new specialty locations that deal exclusively with extensions, bridal updos, or men's aesthetics.
A'Lure Hair Design's team of master stylists, many with more than 15 years of cosmetology experience, enhance clients' hair with products from L'Oréal, INOA, and other brands. Beyond haircuts and relaxing scalp massages, the team also tints hair using elixirs custom mixed to match each client’s complexion or the uniforms of the marching band that somehow started following them. The salon's services also draw on an arsenal of blow dryers, facial waxes, and keratin serums.
