After a career as a highway patrolman and corrections officer, David Masters opened Stat Cleaning Services as a side business in 1985. David attributes the business's success to meticulous work and personal attention, two qualities he says scored him a job cleaning 200,000 square feet of carpets in two related office buildings. That was the job that spurred David to retire from police work to focus on carpet cleaning full-time.

In each session, a two-person team purges carpets using a truck-mounted system that brings only an extractor and a connecting hose into the client's home. The extractor forces steam between carpet fibers to pull out deeply embedded debris, such as pet hair, crumbs, and long-lost Scrabble tiles, leaving carpets dry less than two hours later. The same heat extraction also purifies tile and upholstery. A special enzyme solution is also available for purchase, which works to break down the bacteria created by pet stains and prevent their odor from lingering.

Each cleaning team checks the quality of their work and ensures customer satisfaction before leaving the premises. In the event that a problem does occur, customers need not worry about wading through tiers of customer service reps, managers, and machine intelligences for a resolution; David answers almost every phone call himself.

Like many good ideas, the one for this business came from Dan Rather. A group of friends interested in starting a business venture together were watching CBS Evening News one night when a report on the high costs of dry cleaning drew their attention to the profession. With an entrepreneurial spirit, the founders scoped out local dry cleaners and developed a business model that allowed them to clean all garments for a fee that’s as flat as the planet we walk on. Today they clean more than 1,200 items each day and continue to grow, thanks to their onsite, environmentally friendly equipment that cleans consciences as well as garments.

Frank A. Deaton opened Holiday Dry Cleaners in 1964, and his son, Frank Deaton Jr., assumed control over the stain-slaying operation on the senior Deaton's retirement. Dry-cleaning practices have changed with the times, and the crew now helms new equipment and biodegradable products that are safer than the chemicals and styrofoam claim tickets from the days of yore. Collar guards, anti-wrinkle hangers, and advanced pressing technology help each piece of apparel to return to its owner looking sharp.

Let someone else do your dirty work with today's Groupon: $30 for three hours of home cleaning from the meticulous staff at DiCi Services. No nook, cranny, or ceiling-fan blade is safe from their eagle eye (their left one), copious supply of elbow grease, and arsenal of professional-grade supplies (if you prefer they use your supplies, just let them know). Each clean sweep is customized, meaning a walk-through of the area to be cleaned is required prior to an appointment so that your expectations match the outcome. This Groupon expires at the end of March, so do your spring-cleaning before spring actually comes, or get your place ready for the holidays.Follow @Groupon_Says on Twitter.

Oxi Fresh's team of trained professionals harnesses Mother Earth's arboreal breath to naturally purify overly soiled carpets. In addition to effectively breaking down pesky stains, the oxygen-powered cleaning system has a fast one-hour drying time, doesn't leave a crunchy residue, and is safe for your family, pets, and the environment (which houses even more families and pets). In addition to the aesthetic benefits of carpet cleaning, a visit from Oxi Fresh will support a healthier living environment by terminating dust mites, allergens, dirty germs, and other yuckies.

After a 40-year career in marketing and sales, Stephen Ringel decided to become an entrepreneur, purchasing a Fish Window Cleaning franchise so that he could directly improve the lives of employees and customers. Ringel believes that the secret to success is doing a great job every time, saying, “Good enough is not enough. Enough is a job well done.” All of the company’s bonded, insured window-cleaning technicians undergo extensive training and pass a background check before taking their first squeegee swipe of a customer’s window. After cleanings, professionally polished windows stay streak- and residue- free, allowing more light to brighten rooms, feed undernourished plants, and aid the TV remote’s photosynthetic processes. In addition to windows, the company provides residential and commercial cleaning services for gutters, screens, and chandeliers.
