A strong believer that laughter and spirited conversation play as important a role in its guests’ salon experience as the skills of its stylists, Classic Salon’s talented staff goes out of its way to make each patron feel welcome. Sporting their signature smiles, the coiffeur experts deploy high-quality styling products from brands including Redken, Keune, and Joico as they transform lackluster strands into radiant 'dos. Amid the rhythmic clips of scissors and the soothing hum of hairdryers, stylists perform chic feats of coiffing via services that include everything from colorful foils to bang trims that keep hair and overgrown thought bubbles from obstructing sightlines.
Most of the time when kids go to get their hair cut, they're lucky if they're able to watch a movie they've seen a thousand times or play with the single toy the salon keeps on hand. But even that doesn't generally happen. And because most salons don't bother to entertain kids, haircuts can be a difficult thing for them to sit through.
Yet, when kids go to Snip-its Kids Hair Salon and Spa, they get an adventure. Staffers first hand kids a Snip-its Adventure Club card, and then invite them to sing along with the salon's own cast of animated characters. There's Curly Comb, the adventurous Flyer Joe Dryer, and the group's leader, Snips, an anthropomorphized pair of scissors with a shock of brown hair. This same crew stars in computer games and activities that kids can play at each salon station, which dazzle eyes with more bright colors than a car covered in Lisa Frank stickers.
While their clients explore imaginative worlds, stylists use a proprietary line of natural and allergen-free products to create buzz cuts and bobs. At the end of the process, kids visit the Magic Box. The enchanted device awards kids a prize in exchange for a swatch of hair. On special occasions, stylists can also photograph a baby's first haircut or transport girls to Tinseltown during a Hollywood Party.
In order to make every salon experience exciting for kids and relaxing for adults, Snip-its Kids Hair Salon and Spa's partners with Autism Speaks and trains stylists to work with kids with autism.
Que Blankenship, owner of Plush Hair Lounge, keeps her eye on a wide variety of sources for inspiration, from couture catwalks to classic starlets to edgy urban settings. Whatever the look, she works to make it accessible to her clients' lifestyles by selecting flattering hues, enhancing the hair?s natural motion with cuts, and sculpting styles that stay sultry with little attention. Before stylists begin any treatment, they make good on the promise implicit in Plush Hair Lounge?s name by providing customers with a complimentary glass of wine and a scalp massage whose motions mimic the brain waves produced by dreams about cuddling a cloud. When Que and her staff aren't subduing frizz with keratin treatments, lengthening locks with extensions, or crafting special-occasion updos for proms and weddings, they teach clients how to keep their hair healthy with at-home regimens.
Four of Fuze Salon's stylists have more than a decade of experience, and Artistic Director Chip Perry has spent more than two decades in the business. Perry spent time as a national performing artist for Redken and specialized in teaching corrective color at the Redken Exchange, so it’s no surprise the salon uses ammonia-free Redken Chromatics dye as its go-to. Like Fievel Mousekewitz, his journey to happiness began with petty theft. His online biography describes how he would commandeer his neighbors' dolls as a child and "spend hours trying to twist the two inches of fiber into different shapes.” Now, he styles brides and men's cuts with equal dexterity, and keeps his hands busy raising two dogs, contributing to the boards of two charitable organizations, and rallying the community around philanthropic drives and walks.
Mounted over the repurposed home's entrance, a large American flag patriotically waves above a vibrant floral bed and pillared porch. However, after walking through the bright-red front door, guests discover a European-inspired spa staffed by skilled and licensed stylists, aestheticians, massage therapists, and nail technicians. Using exclusive skin- and haircare products—by brands including Pevonia Botanica and Bumble and bumble—Carmel Day Spa & Salon's specialists pamper guests with services ranging from haircuts to facials to massages. Sleek monochrome furniture and fixtures populate the salon area and treatment rooms, whose walls feature various pieces of art used to conceal wall safes filled with Monopoly money.
Water is great for the body, but as the main ingredient in many beauty products, it’s little more than filler. Michele Matkovich and Sarah Mitchell took this into consideration when choosing a signature product line for Salon M2. They decided on Eufora, a collection of styling products that uses certified organic aloe-vera gel as a product base, nourishing hair alongside infusions of botanicals and essential oils. This reverence for nature extends not only to the service menu—which includes soy conditioning treatments and virgin hair extensions—but also to the business itself: the stylists at Salon M2 make their home inside an LEED-certified shopping center.
