As a child, Julio Vilar always wanted to photograph his family's gatherings; at every birthday party and family reunion, he'd be the one trying to hold the camera instead of posing in front of it. These days, Vilar snaps shots all over New York City, capturing the dynamic angles and giant sea monsters that fill the city skyline as well as the subtle details of subway stations and neighborhood storefronts. Families, though, still remain his favorite subject. He specializes in family portraiture and infant photography, giving parents tangible memories of their children growing up.

Christina Marotto takes the time to truly capture each of her subjects’ unique personalities, prompting them with her motto, “If a photo is worth a thousand words, what will yours say?” A look at her work substantiates this claim, as her photos are filled with laughing children, smiling faces, and joyous couples lost in each other’s eyes. Christina also hones her patience as a Girl Scout troop leader, using her skills to corral children during family photo shoots and individual portrait sessions. When she isn’t racing down hills on her skis, Christina might be photographing them in her travel photography album, which also includes landscapes of Horseshoe Bend in Arizona, Freedom Tower, and the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower.

Kesha Lambert Photography and the AboutFace Makeup Artist Network teamed up to create Lash to Lens, a one-stop shop for customized portraiture and modern lifestyle photography. Published in the New York Times, Boston Herald, and OK! magazine, Kesha Lambert and her supporting cast of savvy shutterbugs create a relaxed and fun environment for capturing life’s most memorable moments, whether it be a candid family photo, a sizzling boudoir portrait, or a reproduction of The Last Supper starring a litter of beagles. Each session is tailored to the client’s style and personality, incorporating clever props and interesting locales to create a customized photo shoot as unique as the subjects it snaps. AboutFace’s senior makeup artist, Charlene Armstrong, uses top-quality beauty products to hide blemishes, eliminate shine, conceal red eyes, and distract attention from obtrusive bunny ears, resulting in camera-ready countenances.

For Jen Morais, photography preserves moments that might otherwise be forgotten. Inside a client's home or at their favorite park, Jen's on-location portraits capture expectant moms, kids, families, and couples at ease, in moments of happiness and reflection that could easily be lost to time. Her wedding photography is closer to a documentary shoot than a simple portrait session. She covers every step of the day, from the nerves of getting dressed and ready to the joy and high-flying emotions of the ceremony to the spontaneous synchronized kabuki displays of the reception. Regardless of the subject matter, one to two weeks after Jen's shoots (four to six after weddings), she produces digital proofs that give clients the opportunity to choose which images to keep as prints, gallery-wrapped canvases, albums, or custom iPhone cases.
