As a father of four, Doctor of Chiropractic Mark R. Davis knows firsthand the importance of keeping one's family healthy, and that knowledge led him to pursue his passion for kid-centric chiropractic work. But pediatric posture correcting is just one of the services Chiropractic FIRST offers. Their treatment menu also includes chiropractic adjustments, nutrition counseling, and massage therapy, which aims to relieve musculoskeletal pain and improve the patient’s range of motion so they can subsequently improve their windmill impressions.
A licensed doctor of chiropractic, Eliesha Evans uses a “whole person approach” to wellness, which means she first looks for the underlying causes of pain and then suggests interventions and lifestyle adjustments to address them. This method is what distinguishes the approach at Evans Chiropractic Health Clinic from that of conventional medicine: instead of focusing on treating disease after it occurs, the clinic emphasizes improving health to reduce the risk of illness or pain before it happens. The resulting treatment regimen may consist of spinal adjustments and massage therapy, lifestyle advice and nutrition counseling, or even laser therapy. Often, patients learn exercises they can use to correct their problems from the comfort of their home or the lobby of an ex’s apartment building.

What is one of your signature services? How is it performed?
Prenatal Massage: Massage for the pregnant client is performed much in the way of a relaxing Swedish massage, with some special considerations. Every woman and pregnancy is unique, so each session is a tailor-made massage ready to promote relaxation and help optimize prenatal wellness. Contrary to popular belief, yes, you CAN have a massage while pregnant, and, conditions pending, can continue to receive massage all throughout your journey. A pregnant belly may also be massaged, with mommy's permission, of course. This is in fact wonderful to receive and carries a plethora of health benefits for mommy and baby alike.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
My interest in prenatal and perinatal massage therapy really began in late 2011, when I was trained in prenatal and geriatric massage in college. This really took off in 2012, when I became pregnant with my first little one and decided to explore what wonderful benefits I could receive from having a regular pregnancy massage from a credentialed massage practitioner. In June of 2014, I took things a step further and took a continued education course in prenatal and perinatal massage.
Out of your entire repertoire, which is your favorite service to perform and why?
It goes without saying that I most enjoy pregnancy massage, my new specialty. Being a mother of two, there's a whole scale of empathy and understanding that goes with caring for other expecting mothers and their babies. Prenatal massage, for me, is as enjoyable to give as it is to receive, and it is an exceptionally fascinating field of massage. In becoming a prenatal massage specialist, it was a huge development in my growth as both a therapist and a mother.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Prenatal massage received on a regular basis carries wonderful health benefits. To name a few, these can affect mommy's heart rate and lower the risk of blood-pressure-related pregnancy ailments. Prenatal massage stimulates the flow of fluid between mother and child, optimizing nutrition and minimizing the risk of blood deficiency to the uterus.
Doctor of Chiropractic Mark Koch, who is also a licensed nutritional counselor and certified wellness practitioner, combines chiropractic techniques with diet advice, supplements, and exercise to help clients get healthy and stay healthy. The doctor eschews rough chiropractic techniques in favor of the Activator Method, gently tapping vertebrae back into place with a hand-held instrument, instead of twisting and cracking the spine or whacking it with a mallet. Because this technique is so gradual, it can help ease nerve irritation, relax tight muscles, and relieve headaches. To bolster its effectiveness and address any underlying muscle tensions, the doctor combines the Activator Method with pressure-point massage.
