A decade has passed since Evan Durand began his study of Brazilian jujitsu. But that doesn't mean he forgets what it's like to be a novice. As the head instructor at Pacific Top Team Richmond, Evan tends to each student individually, helping them accomplish their own fitness or fighting goals through Brazilian jujitsu training. And since he's also trained in hapkido, a form of self-defense, he can incorporate both forms of martial art into his one-hour classes.
After a stint as a world-champion martial artist, Adam Ryan turned his fighting talents to teaching, quickly amassing a 30-3 record as an MMA coach. At Dynamic Mixed Martial Arts, Adam grooms the next generation of feared fighters, assisted by a staff of current professional fighters and wrestlers. The spacious gym includes 3,000 square feet of mat space, a realistic octagon, and a weight-training area with bumper weights, kettlebells, sandbags, and squat racks.
The crew at Razor Fitness strives to give members the resources of a large-scale gym while maintaining the welcoming, no-waiting atmosphere of a boutique gym. The 22,000-square-foot facility houses more than 200 cardio machines, weight machines, and free-weight stations, as well as a studio outfitted with heavy bags, step platforms, and mats for wrestling bears. Beyond the open gym, the staff guides guests to an array of physique-enhancing services, including personal training, an infrared sauna and tanning, and nutrition counselling. Damsels who join Razor Fitness’s member ranks also receive access to the Planet Woman Fitness facility. To fortify clients’ fitness efforts, Razor’s team also dispenses energy drinks, protein bars, and workout smoothies.
