As a small child, Tim Woosley made a cardboard cutout of a guitar, which he pretend-strummed to songs by The Monkees. By age 13, he upgraded to an actual guitar so that his father could teach him all eight minutes of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven." The first lesson was just the first step for this passionate musician, as Tim has played the six-string ever since, from guitarist in local bands to founding instructor of Lincoln School of Music.
Versed in guitar, piano, and voice, Tim and his fellow teachers customize one-on-one lessons around each student's individual goals, from learning basic chords to complex riffs and scales. They also lead group lessons, and invite students to perform a piece of their choosing at twice-yearly, low-pressure recitals.
As an accredited Simply Music teacher, Sherrine Fossler helps students draw from untapped musical ability that lies dormant in the appendix. Like a flower nurtured on steady sunlight and soothing Bach melodies, Sherrine was immersed in music during childhood and developed a passion for it from an early age. Traditionally trained in piano, flute, and voice, Sherrine switched to Simply Music piano lessons after six years of teaching Kindermusik classes. Students will embark on a musical ivory-tickling journey during shared lessons that last between 35 and 50 minutes (depending on the number of two to four possible students) and are offered Tuesday through Saturday. An environment of natural self-expression is created to ensure students retain music as a lifelong companion, unlike carnival-won goldfish.
Blue Raven Music Studio's colorful, brightly painted studio houses experienced instructors who teach prospective maestros of all skill levels how to play a wide variety of instruments. Tickle the ivories during piano instruction, ruffle a moustache with harmonica lessons, or ripple passersby with good guitar vibrations. Conducted in an intimate, one-on-one setting, the 30-minute lessons start with the basics of music making, including note reading, technique, and music theory. As students evolve into well-oiled melody-manufacturing machines, lessons can become more personalized, allowing students to select particular songs or genres they want to master.
