The Swim School of Joplin provides certification-level scuba lessons, diving vacations, and rental gear to help students to gain their underwater legs. Originally founded in Memphis in 1961, The Swim School of Joplin has since expanded aquatic operations to four states in the South and Midwest and runs scuba programs at both the University of Mississippi and the University of Memphis. Instructional programs include everything from introductory swimming and snorkeling lessons to specialty courses in night diving, search-and-rescue diving, and diving while learning to play the guitar.
One hundred and fifty thousand gallons of water courses through the attractions at Castle Rock Resort & Waterpark. This water powers two three-story waterslides, one of which hurtles riders from 30 feet high to the splash pool down below. On the calmer side, guests can kick back for a ride on the lazy river, while tots splash around in the kiddie pool, replete with themed kiddie slides, waterfalls, rain shower, and a 500-gallon tipping bucket. Although all of this is indoors, safe from inclement weather, when it's warm out, families can venture outdoors to another activity pool, kiddie pool with a 500 gallon tipping bucket and rain tree, as well as relax on a multi-level sun deck.
Imagine a tropical beach plopped down in the middle of Muskogee, and you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect at River Country Family Water Park. The azure waters of the Caribbean come to Oklahoma at this wet and wild adventure park, where guests can zip down twisting water slides or lounge in the gentle currents of a lazy river. There's plenty of sand to go with that water, too; kids can play on the tugboat beach while adults square off in games of volleyball or feast on sand-dipped nachos with that perfect crunch.
