D Pad preserves the social aspect of video gaming by welcoming visitors into its haven of pixilated entertainment, filled with classic arcade machines, modern console systems, and a wide selection of retail titles. Ten PC gaming rigs and 16 flat-screen TVs equipped with Xbox 360 and PS3 systems rouse friendly competition from birthday revelers and other groups inside the store’s LAN center, decked out with exposed brick walls and sealed power boxes. Owners Israel De Leon and Daniel Rodriguez value restoration. That much is clear after a visit to Landmark Salon and Spa, their Paul Mitchell focus salon, where staffers renew appearances inside a historical water power plant. By renovating their clients’ bodies, stylists and skin technicians hope to rebuild their confidence. They also offer massages to ease tense muscles and facials that use Dermalogica products to leave skin clear, exfoliated, and as hydrated as a sponge soaking in a puddle of Gatorade.

What sets your business apart from your competition?
The personal attention and care we give our customers?it's not just about selling our products. In addition, the products that we do carry are fun and unique?just what you're looking for when you shop in a small boutique.
What was the inspiration for starting this business?
I started by selling jewelry, then I realized that, while I was showing women how important accessories are in our wardrobes, it would be even easier to demonstrate if I also offered the wardrobes to accessorize.
What is the best reaction you?ve ever gotten from a customer?
"I love this store," and, "It's so great to find clothes that aren't just for the super young and super skinny." That's especially gratifying when it comes from women who live in large cities and have lots of shops to compare us with.
What?s your favorite part about your job?
I love working with the customers and helping women choose things that make them feel beautiful.

At Clay Casa, patrons create their own original works of art, whether they're vibrant pieces of painted pottery or gemlike mosaics and fused-glass pieces. For the pottery option, guests can choose from hundreds of unglazed bisque pieces to decorate with their choice of more than 60 nontoxic glazes. Sponges, stamps, and stencils are on hand to help them add pattern and texture to mugs, bowls, or colorful plates that make great gifts for friends who just learned to eat off dishes. Fused-glass and mosaic projects can result in trivets, coasters, crosses, and other brightly colored pieces. Clay Casa also ups the ante with regular special events, including a once-monthly Ladies' Night at their recently opened New Braunfels location.
