The quest of self-dubbed “Green Beauty Queen,” a.k.a Valerie Mason-Robinson, to find the most effective products and treatments for skincare has reached as far as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. There, her research taught her how environmental factors can impact the skin, which then sent her in search for natural and organic products as well as holistic treatments. Since founding Eden Organix, Ms. Mason-Robinson and her staff of aestheticians cosset bodies with facials, body wraps, salon services, and waxing treatments that celebrate her environmental activism with eco-friendly techniques and products.
Every facial at The Jennifer Day Spa begins with a personalized skin assessment. This allows the aesthetician to curate a regimen that directly targets that client's skin needs. Then they get to work with one of more than 10 facials, each designed to address a specific need. This form of personalized attention underlines every treatment here, including massages ranging from hot- and cold-stone to deep-tissue.
The hallway, lined with golden-hued paint, leads to Massage Spa 1’s private treatment rooms with tables set up for individual or couples massages. The rooms also provide a relaxing space for aestheticians to calm acne and excess oil with facials using G.M. Collin skincare products, or wax off unwanted hair on faces, bodies, and shadows.
At Nirvana Nails & Day Spa, the decor stands out. It's more than just fluorescent lights and mirrors. Stained-wood accents, a curtain of ivy-like plants across faux-stone walls, candles, flowers, and twinkling crystal light fixtures have the power to transport guests away from their day-to-day drudgery. Amid this decor, the staff offers spa treatments for men, women, and couples, including body treatments that complement a selection of facials, massages, and nailcare services.
With its Victorian details and aquamarine trim, the exterior of Aqua Pearl Day Spa could pass as a quaint cottage home. This domestic vibe extends inside, where the staff greets each guest with a cup of tea before escorting her or him to a private room. Skin-softening body scrubs incorporate common kitchen scents, such as freshly ground coffee, red wine, and citrus fruits. Massages, mani-pedis, and facials also relax and beautify clients.

Do you agree with the phrase "beauty is on the inside?" Why or why not?
I agree, part of our job is to remove all the stress and pains that makes our clients unhappy, and let their true personality show after the massage. A client could arrive unhappy and frowning, but would come out of their session smiling and relaxed.
Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
Seeing clients return month after month, hearing how their life takes them places and how we have helped them achieve their goal of a healthy life. It's like seeing a family member or close friend every time.
How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
We focus on health because we grew up where therapeutic massage is a part of life. That's the reason we are in this business, to help people discover the health benefit of massage??which is not glamorous, but rather a necessity.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I learned a long time ago that every massage therapist is different. A therapist could be the best in the studio, but unless she or he is the one you need it could be the worst massage that you've had. Our goal is to match you with the right therapist that can best help you, so we highly recommend that you call ahead and let us find that right therapist for you.
