Nearly half a century ago, a group of 80 golf lovers decided to transform a farm into a course where the salty breezes off of St. Mary’s Bay would blow in and grassy fairways would flourish. Their vision was realized in the founding of Clare Golf & Country Club, whose original front nine were joined by a back nine in the '80s, filling out a championship 18-hole layout. The course embraces beginners, but still challenges golfers who have earned their black belts in putting, inviting all players to exercise their long game at three par 5s while avoiding the stream wending its way among the fairways. After hiring a math-bowl champ to tally up their scorecards, players can unwind on the wraparound porch of the newly built clubhouse that replaced the course’s original farmhouse, refuel at the restaurant and bar, or drop by the pro shop for a new set of golf balls.

Going on more than 60 years, Fundy Restaurant's culinary maestros continue to perfect their scallop, fish, and lobster dishes with ingredients supplied by local fishermen and produce dealers. Live lobsters put on their best bibs hoping to be chosen from a tank before taking their places at tables alongside 6-ounce rib-eye steaks and a variety of pastas. Outdoors, the two-tier outdoor balcony hosts stunning views of the Bay of Fundy as meals come out, or diners can gather in one of Fundy's four indoor dining areas such as the 80-foot glass solarium, which affords panoramic views of the boardwalk below.
On that very boardwalk, directly beneath and behind Fundy, patrons of Dockside Restaurant & Bar stuff their mouths with seafood munchies and lunchtime fare. Throughout their courses diners luxuriate on the restaurant's casual outdoor patio right on the bay. Guests can share plates or drinks after jaunts through the Fundy Complex, and a nearby dock and floating slip accommodate customers travelling by yacht or rental shark with up to five hours of docking time before tides change.
With Global Gym’s access card, members gain 24-hour access to an expansive workout terrain that hosts ample cardio and strength-boosting gear. Guests can bulk up before dawn and finally attain the ability to silence alarm clocks with one well-aimed shot put as they hoist free-weights. To work off unwanted calories, guests can pedal in the bounds of a large cardio theatre, toning gams as they anchor eyes to onscreen entertainment. For custom exercise regimens, patrons can attend personal-training sessions, during which they absorb the tailored wellness guidance of an experienced trainer to better craft a fat-burning routine. On-site tanning beds and massage therapists further augment freshly chiselled physiques.
With picturesque views of the Annapolis Basin, Annapolis Royal Golf Club and Restaurant's course is sure to provide a memorable round. Tree-lined fairways bend to create tricky approach shots, and water hazards require strategic ball placement on several holes. After their round, players can head to the 19th Hole restaurant for homestyle English cuisine.
