Eloise Pabst was running out of time. As a result of excessive weight, she was an insulin-dependent diabetic, and her sugars were out of control. Not only was she suffering from high triglycerides and taking three blood-pressure medications, she was enduring chronic back problems, and she couldn't walk long distances. According to her interview on WTNH's Connecticut Style, Pabst's doctor recommended Medical Weight Loss Centers as a last-ditch effort to help her regain her health. The medical staff guided her through their program and helped her lose an impressive 100 pounds in eight months. As noted by physician assistant Monika Fuller in that same news story, Pabst's blood sugars are now stabilized, and she is completely insulin-free. Her triglycerides are normal, and she's cut her blood-pressure medication and reduced her thyroid meds by half. Of her life-changing journey, Pabst said, "Everything is spelled out for you. You know what to eat, they provide the proteins for you ? It's very easy. You're constantly eating every two to three hours."
Pabst's story is no different from those of many of the patients at the center?including its own associate medical director, Andy Rodican, PA-C. Rodican himself struggled with diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea before suffering a heart attack in 2002 at the age of 46. He recognized that obesity was the root of his problems, and he now uses what he's learned both personally and as a graduate of the physician associate program at Yale University's School of Medicine to help other people reach their goals. He and his team are specially trained in bariatric medicine. They steer clients toward protein-filled low-calorie and very-low-calorie diets and away from bad carbohydrates.
Dr. Fausto Petruzziello and Nikit Shah, PAC, couldn?t ignore their patients? expanding waistlines any longer. While practicing medicine at CareMedica, they realized that optimal health relied heavily on whether or not a person weighed in at a healthy number. So, together they founded WeightMedica in 2007, a branch of their original practice. They oversee weight-loss programs that begin with a physical to ensure a patient?s candidacy, checking their blood, charting an EKG, and handing out carnival prizes to those whose weight was guessed incorrectly. Then, patients meet regularly with the staff to record their progress, receive nutritional tips, and?in some cases?receive Lipofast injections, which expedite fat loss.

Dr. Lori Breiner strives to promote mind and body wellness by offering her patients a host of healing treatments. An ancient practice used to treat illness and balance the body, a 30- to 45-minute acupuncture session aims to release positive energy known as "qi" by inserting fine needles into specific points on the patient's body. The acupuncture session can be tailored to address specific points of pain or general bodily unrest. Alternatively, Dr. Breiner tailors chiropractic sessions to suit each client's skeletal needs, commencing with a spinal analysis. The sessions aim to balance the body through spinal, postural, and soft-tissue corrections, which the doctor makes via manual adjustments. The treatment is designed to decrease muscle and soft-tissue tension and pain, and to help ease the pressure of carrying the world in a backpack.

Beginning in 2001 as a small fitness operation in the basement of an office building, Pure Barre has since blossomed into a widely acclaimed, widely publicized approach to exercise with a nationwide following. Dancer, choreographer, and fitness buff Carrie Rezabek Dorr founded Pure Barre more than a decade ago in Birmingham, MI. Since then, Carrie has traveled around the country, hopping from gym to gym demonstrating the innovative program that draws techniques from ballet. Performing the Pure Barre technique can be a fast and effective way to transform your body. Motivating music slices through the 55-minute workouts, each of which utilizes a ballet barre and small isometric movements designed to burn fat and tone muscles.
