As you tipple out-of-this-world wines originating in worldly locations from India to America, friendly butlers will be making their way through the mingling crowds to offer up various bites and describe the edible pieces on their platters to any eager ears. There will be ample opportunity for mixing and mingling along the way, so expect a night of friendly consumption, social networking, and a glorious smattering of edibles.
Eden Guides is in the business of life-changing experiences. Its team of outdoor enthusiasts takes people on voyages and expeditions up mountains, under coral reef ecosystems, and to locations in need of humanitarian aid. Recent trips have offered a chance to safari on the Serengeti and view the migration of more than 500,000 gazelle and zebra or scale two of Mexico’s highest peaks, the volcanoes El Pico de Orizaba and Iztaccihuatl. Closer to home, courses on outdoor skills, led by guides with certifications from the American Mountain Guides Association and as wilderness EMTs and first responders. Leave-no-trace, backcountry cuisine, and intro to backpacking classes all ensure that hikers and climbers know how to survive in the wild without needing to barter with the local bears.
Usually people coast over the hills of Coffee Mill Ski & Snowboard Resort on terrain covered with fresh powder. But during the Grumpy Muddah 5K, runners tackle the steep slopes on foot instead, and end up covered themselves?in wet mud. That's because the course has obstacles that might challenge participants to carry dirty logs down a hill or slide on their bellies through muddy water. The obstacles tend to be easier to complete with a team (you can register in a group), but those running solo can skip any obstacle that proves too difficult or requires a human pyramid to complete.
The event, which helps raise money for the Wabasha Ambulance Service, culminates in an after party that includes one free beer for each of-age participant, a T-shirt, and a medal, as well as various food options.
The Life Time Turkey Day 5K jump-starts Thanksgiving celebrations with a healthy, full-body feast of exercise, with proceeds benefiting local food organizations. Starting on the world-famous Fremont Street, pavement stompers weave past the historic downtown vistas lining Las Vegas Boulevard, home to myriad celebrities, reality television shows, and retired slot machines. After coasting to a finish beneath the Fremont Street Experience, participants gather for a postrace party, where refreshments, music, and chances to win prizes from sponsors accompany huffs and puffs of accomplishment. Additionally, strollers are permitted during the race but must line up behind individual runners and must not be equipped with nitrous.
Stephen McCarthy wanted to be a professional golfer. Inspired by Tiger Woods's rigorous training, he hit the gym to work traditional athletic strength building into his regimen. Only, when he got there, he didn't know quite what to do. Even his trainers were at a loss to help him achieve his desired results. Nobody seemed to know how to coax out an individual's talent. Slowly, Stephen's interest transitioned from golfing to creating the ideal performance-development program. Thus, The McCarthy Project was born. Today, Stephen and company help athletes and exercisers of all stripes reach their goals, whether building team unity for a school sports team or improving performance for an individual.
