People go to spas to forget about the outside world. How does your decor help create an atmosphere where visitors can unwind?
The walls are cocoa-colored, the music is soft, and the massage table is adjustable for those who can not lay flat but would love to enjoy a massage. Close your eyes and relax: you're forgiven for falling asleep.
How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
I was in the nursing field for about 20 years. I wanted to do something more rewarding. I wanted a relaxed atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of life.
New Horizon MediSpa offers medically supervised weight-loss and aesthetic treatments at three Tampa-area locations staffed by friendly, bilingual employees. Weight-loss programs include evaluations from doctors and nurse-practitioners who prescribe pharmaceutical weight-loss medications or weight-loss injections that stimulate the thin-down process. Another avenue to a slimmer belt is the low-calorie meal-replacement program, which includes a regimen of foods that can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol. Technicians also pare down pounds with nonsurgical ultrasonic-cavitation treatments that use ultrasonic waves to break up fat cells and often lead to slimmer figures and less-taxed hula-hoops. A variety of aesthetic treatments are available as well, including Botox injections, microdermabrasion, and wrinkle fillers such as Radiesse.
Dr. David Ikudayisi, medical director of Glory MedClinic LLC, has studied under eminent practitioners of spot fat reduction, gleaning methods such as lipotherapy, lipodissolve, and mesotherapy. He also goes a step further, helping clients slim down with lifestyle advice, appetite suppressants, and vitamin injections. At his three clinics, Dr. Ikudayisi has helped more than 30,000 patients since getting into the weight-loss game with his variety of customized weight-loss programs. But his staff also helps clients beautify the rest of their bodies with aesthetic services such as chemical peels, which combat the signs of aging so that your mother can truly feel like you will always be her baby.
Whether they're looking to shed inches or tension, clients leave Radiance Med Spa feeling transformed thanks to myriad med-spa services or weight-loss treatments. Facials and peels set skin aglow, addressing acne, signs of aging, and remnants of an over-ketchuped burger. Laser hair removal and Juvederm skin fillers draw attention to freshened faces, and physician-led medical weight-loss programs combine medication, proper diet, and exercise to help clients drop pounds with help from ongoing coaching, bioanalysis, and weekly vitamin injections.
The skin therapists of Intuitive Skin Studio rely on advanced procedures to fight the signs of aging: HydraFacial diamond microdermabrasion, LED photo facials, radio frequency facials, micro-needling dermapen treatments, and LHE phototherapy. Every treatment includes a complimentary consultation, and all sessions take place in a private treatment room. Meanwhile, massage therapists pamper clients with relaxing, therapeutic sessions, employing Swedish, deep-tissue, and trigger-point techniques.
When Joanna Mazurek calls relaxation an "art," she knows what she's talking about. The Green Peace Art of Relaxation founder is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, though today she's more likely to be dripping massage oil on a tense back than paint on a canvas. Her massage credentials include certification in the stretching techniques of Thai massage as well as mastery of reiki, an energy-based Eastern healing method.
As an advocate of aromatherapy, Mazurek sells scents made from sage, lavender, and other organic ingredients, which together are meant to relax the muscles and moisturize the skin. That's not to say she's averse to more high-tech methods, though. During face- and body-sculpting sessions, she uses microcurrent electrical impulses to make skin produce more collagen, just as electricity shocked Ben Franklin into producing better screenplays.
