At Delight Beauty and Day Spa, aestheticians strive to give patients a retreat from everyday stressors. They stock the waiting room with complimentary beverages and snacks, and while new clients wait, they fill out a form that helps tailor services to their skin and body issues. The spa's private rooms are as quiet and tranquil as a mouse in a library. Clients lie on crisp linens while aestheticians explain their treatments, from facials targeted to skin type to massages that aim to simply relax, reduce chronic muscle aches, or assuage the discomfort of pregnancy. If they are interested, clients can also have staffers inform them about the latest beauty services, such as eyelash extensions or permanent makeup. The team is so experienced in the latter, they train future techs onsite.
Board-certified plastic surgeon and medical director of Neos Med Spa, Dr. Shaun Parson, insists that his licensed medical staff undergo intensive training in both the technology and administration of all treatments. This expert training, combined with a catlike fascination with lasers, has led to the center’s specialization in laser procedures, including hair removal, spider-vein removal, custom skin-rejuvenation treatments to treat acne, and anti-aging treatments. A detailed consultation precedes each treatment, helping technicians develop a custom plan of action that optimizes results. Neos MedSpa also offers Botox and Dysport injections, and a medically supervised weight-loss program that supplements a very low-calorie diet with HCG injections to help patients lose one to two pounds a day.
Carl Sonder, MD is on a mission: to create beauty and happiness in a world often beset by strife. He has seen his fair share of the latter. After studying internal medicine at the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Sonder served in the military as a general medical officer in Vietnam. His focus was on the treatment of severe burn injuries, and it was here that a lifelong passion for aesthetic medicine was born. After his military service, Dr. Sonder became board-certified in psychiatry and neurology, and practiced psychiatry and internal medicine in New York City for 25 years. Dr. Sonder then relocated to Arizona in 1999, and nurtured his interest in aesthetics with a series of courses and trainings in aesthetic technology and cosmetic procedures. He was recently elected to the American Academy of Hyperbaric Physicians after becoming certified in the use of the above-hospital-grade Khrunichev hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
Dr. Sonder now directs the team of doctors, nurses, and medical aestheticians at Regency Medical Spa. The clinical team combats signs of aging on the face with injectable fillers and Botox, and contours bodies with anti-cellulite mesotherapy sessions or LipoDissolve procedures. The reception area at the Phoenix facility boasts a large, reddish-brown painting that mirrors the rich red floors and accentuates the brown leather chairs. The Scottsdale site is also bedecked in soothing earth tones. Both locations offer a private concierge driver service to get clients home after treatments or acquaint extraterrestrials with local businesses.
Going against the grain has never bothered Stacey Grondahl. Throughout her beauty career she has welcomed it, which is why she not only became an aesthetician but also went on to train as a laser technician and massage therapist. But just when most skincare specialists would call it a day, Stacey furthered her skill set by becoming a representative for Raw skincare for men.
And it is with this passion for aesthetics and determination to shake things up that Stacey established her male-centric spa, Simplicity. Amid teal-colored walls and funky rock 'n' roll accents—such as bedazzled skulls—Stacey hydrates and smoothes men’s complexions using organic Raw skincare products. Her #BoozeAndTaboos menu is a study in clever treatment names. There's The Tequila Shooter, an energizing facial infused with blue-agave tequila extract and menthol, and the Get Buffed, an exfoliation formulated from dragon’s blood. Stacey also cleans up physiques with gentle waxing treatments and reaches for Raw’s all-natural ingredients—clove and grape-seed oils to be exact—to soothe irritated skin during a massage.
Even though the aesthetician’s treatments are geared toward men, women are always welcome at Simplicity. The skilled aesthetician is on hand to customize any facial, waxing, or massage treatment.
Most 12-year-olds have no idea what they want to do with their lives, but that?s when Maria DeNicola first found the inspiration to study electrolysis. As of today, she?s been doing electrolysis for more than 29 years and has even devised an all-new technique to attack full follicles with alternating current. DeNicola also eliminates unwanted body hair through laser hair removal or break-dance competitions on sandpaper.
With the help of her med spa team, which includes a registered nurse, DeNicola pampers faces with microdermabrasion and high-end products from La Maison Clayton Shagal and PCA Skin, as well as fights wrinkles with Botox injections. DeNicola happily serves members of the transgender community with her services and formerly acted as president of transgender support group A Rose.
