Since 1993, AKO Design Center has outfitted homes around the world with quality, brand-name furniture. AKO can furnish any room or hidden laboratory in the house with sleek, contemporary items ranging from beds and recliners to office desks. The store's design team works with customers in their design studio to help create sophisticated looks for the home or workplace, and they also collaborate with manufacturers to produce stylish pieces that complement each other when purchased as a set or that add decorative accents to already existing design schemes.
Exceptional Furniture collaborates with more than 75 manufacturers to deck out abodes with a wide variety of contemporary and traditional furniture pieces. Domestic daredevils can take dizzying 360-degree spins atop black faux-leather bar stools to break up the monotony of motorcycling through rings of fire ($125). And committed couch potatoes can bring home a modern glass coffee table, whose curved metal legs bow in tribute to his owner's channel-surfing prowess ($200).
A two-floor American bistro with a European art-deco motif, Tête-à-Tête Café is, as its name suggests, an optimal spot for good conversation and delicious food. The former is most likely spurred on by exotic coffee drinks, teas, and the café's vibrant artwork. The conversation may come to a quick halt, though, as soon as steamed New Zealand mussels, flame-broiled burgers stuffed with bacon and cheese, and plates of lobster ravioli arrive at the table. But the discussions will certainly continue when it comes to dessert—if only to try to decide what to order. If signature mille crepes and napoleons don’t make the choice difficult enough, there are 11 mousse cakes to choose from, including a caramel bavarian-cream rendition that’s enrobed in Belgian chocolate, and a raspberry mousse wrapped with joconde. Tête-à-Tête Café’s second floor features an intimate bar and lounge that keeps the spirit of its name alive with signature martinis that are great for toasting, sipping, and bobbing for olives.

MOD Restoration is the brainchild of Sim Fern and Hanny Lerner, a husband-and-wife team. In addition to dressing furniture in fashionable new ensembles, they keep tabs on their seasoned artisans who work throughout New York and San Francisco. They've made a name for themselves in the world of mid-century modern furniture and love resurrecting pieces by iconic designers, from George Nelson to Hans Wegner. While they work with architects, designers, and the likes of Ivanka Trump, they draw from a vast fabric collection from designers such as Maharam and Kvadrat. They also use these fabrics to make custom drapes for windows.
