Few names carry more weight in the martial arts world than Bruce Lee, the legendary fighter who created Jeet Kune Do and starred in classic martial arts films such as Enter the Dragon. There's a strong bond that ties him to Nubreed Martial Arts Academy—the academy's founders, Luigi Orlando Cuellar and Alexander Chan, belong to Lee's training lineage.
Unsurprisingly, the academy's instructors teach Lee's signature Jeet Kune Do, but their programs also include boxing, muay thai, and Brazilian jujitsu. To accommodate the array of classes, the 10,000-square-foot facility features a boxing ring, an MMA ring, and wooden wing chun dummies that teach students how to effectively fight a tree.
For the trainers of Sage Exclusive Fitness Center, the only limits are personal limits. They push clients anywhere on the trained athlete-to-couch potato spectrum past those self-imposed barriers on a daily basis. Instructors also lead sessions of Bokwa, which draws from South African war dancing and capoeira to form a fusion of fitness and dance, much like bench-pressing a square dancer.
Most gyms don't function as a tight-knit community that holds fundraisers for worthy causes. But reMix fitness & wellness is not most gyms. The center is helmed by Christina LaGrega, who turned her difficult childhood into an opportunity to encourage others to better themselves.
A motivational speaker, LaGrega became a group fitness instructor before establishing reMix. Now, she and her staff lead dynamic, camaraderie-building classes, such as Zumba, Power yoga, and Cardio & Kettles, inspiring their members to boost their self-confidence as they tone and strengthen their bodies. They also invite their members to monthly fundraisers, corralling donations for local schools and charities such as St. Mary's Hospital for Children.

Instructors explore the varied facets of yoga with a multitude of classes, including workshops designed by and for young adults and candlelit sessions that combine relaxation and fire safety. At times, teachers explore new exercise genres such as Hot Hula Fitness, a variety of dance performed to the tune of Polynesian drum beats, reggae music, and the voices in Bob Marley's head.
Athletes flock to Lifefit Kickboxing's more than 10 locations, which are scattered throughout New York and New Jersey, for a seemingly oxymoronic combination: expert combat training and a sense of camaraderie. As instructors help students perfect kickboxing's core moves on the studio's punching bags, they encourage them to view their fellow classmates as teammates instead of opponents or evil henchmen. The result? A welcoming atmosphere that helps keep students motivated as they conquer the calorie-torching, full-body workouts.
