When Pete and Dawn Padilla opened A Cut From Above, they brought Paul Mitchell. Lots of it. Low-ammonia hair-color with a beeswax base, conditioning products made with wild ginger, and Paul Mitchell's professional shampoos, conditioners, and other coif elixirs fill the tool-chests of the salon's staff—chests that were taken from very stylish pirates. With these products, they tend to the locks of clients with great skill. Outside the realm of the scalp, a massage therapist with three decades of experience un-knots muscles, a nail technician wrangles cuticles, and an ear-piercing specialist makes the phenomenon of listening both functional and fashionable.
Each day when she cuts and styles hair, Sandra LaSpina follows in the footsteps of her mother, Susan, who opened LaSpina Renewed Image Salon in 1972. Since then, Sandra has updated the menu of traditional cut and color services with keratin smoothing treatments, a full line of Paul Mitchell products, and organic products from Eufora. Sandra also began hosting holistic-health lectures at the salon with Native American Earth Medicine practitioners, acupuncturists, and doctors as speakers.
LaSpina Renewed Image Salon sharpened its focus on health concerns when it earned bona fides as an American Cancer Society–certified Look Good…Feel Better salon. The salon carries wigs from Follea, as well as custom-made wigs. In 2010, it was even featured in Short Hair magazine for its variety of services, including their hair-replacement services.
At The Style Inn of Westchester, talented stylists tend to the hair of their customers, styling, coloring, and crafting new 'dos. They also perform waxing services to get rid of unwanted body hair, and a recently added "boutique" section hosts makeup and skincare products, as well as designer goods from brands such as Coach and Michael Kors.
During the day, sunlight filters through the front windows of Hollywood Beauty Salon. Those rays illuminate hardwood floors and the long, ornately framed mirrors that hang over them. The sunlight also brings out the shininess of freshly conditioned hair or the newly dappled color of fully highlighted locks or feather hair extensions.
Appearance is humanity's most accessible form of self-expression, and the aestheticians at i.d SALON strive to turn clients into walking works of art. In an open salon with chic, exposed ductwork and industrial-style lanterns, stylists tend to cosmetic concerns through a variety of services that include haircuts, styling, and color services, mani-pedis, and makeovers for any occasion. The salon also sells styling salves and products from KMS California, Golfwell, Mibon, and American Crew.
When owner and stylist Rita Rexhaj moved to Westchester after working in New York City for 13 years, she had one goal in mind—to create a drama-free salon. Rita has since achieved that goal and welcomes clients to relax and have fun in the inviting environment of Shear Designs Salon.
Rita, a certified Schwarzkopf color specialist, makes up one-third of a trio of stylists with more than 35 years of experience between them. As Rita expertly infuses strands with single-process color or highlights, stylists Eileen and Anita put their styling chops to use tackling haircuts, keratin smoothing treatments, and deep conditioning.
