The Medi Spa at Market Lane employs pulsed-light technology to smooth away undesired patches of stubble. After an initial 30-minute consultation to elect the treatment area and do a few last werewolf impressions, bodies are sent through a series of six Palomar pulsed-light hair-removal sessions, which take around 15 minutes per visit. Safe for most skin and hair types, the pulsed light technology uses a larger beam and a longer pulse width than some laser treatments to penetrate deep into follicles and minimize discomfort. Before seeing optimal results, patients typically experience a mild, post-procedure redness similar to sunburn in that it can last up to a few days and make dragon tattoos look like they're blushing.

While other 10-year-old boys spent their free time practicing slap shots and trying to teach bugs to do their chores, Danny passed afternoons and weekends at his father's barbershop. He'd sweep the floors and run errands, all the while admiring the time-honored craft that his father learned during his training in Italy. Danny would go onto study these same barber techniques under the tutelage of his father and at a local hairstyling school before eventually opening up a barbershop of his own—The Barber's Chair.

Tucked among the bustling shops and upscale restaurants of the Vaughan Mills mall, the barbershop is an oasis of old-world comfort and calm. You can find Danny and his seasoned staffers two-stepping around the cushy barber's chairs, snipping up haircuts while exchanging cheerful anecdotes and jokes. After a refreshing trim or luxurious hot towel shave, the barbers treat clients to cups of simmering espresso.

Mar Skin Care Laser Clinic gilds youthfulness onto exasperated faces with noninvasive laser procedures and deeply moisturizing facials. Calm distressed cheeks with an ultimate hydration facial that dispels moisture into the skin like a hose to an out-of-town neighbour's above-ground pool (a $90 value). Estrange exteriors from age spots, rosacea, wrinkles, and sun damage by summoning the astute skills of the medi-spa Palomar photofacial (a $250 value). After procuring the noninvasive intensity of pulsed-light technology, an adroit skincare professional stimulates dermal cells in an effort to encourage collagen renewal and elastin production, which can leave visages smoother, more vibrant, and more willing to take on a bulldog tongue. Though only one photo-rejuvenation session is included in this Groupon, multiple procedures are recommended for the best results.

As a massage therapist, waxing technician, and aesthetician, Daniel Francoeur knows a lot about skincare. But it wasn't until his male clientele grew substantially at his previous spa that he took notice of the demographic’s lack of aesthetic products, let alone services geared toward it. It was with this epiphany that Daniel went on to take over the first Bodé Spa for Men in Ottawa, before joining forces with a med spa–focused location in Toronto in 2012. Since then both spaces have gained praise from a host of media outlets, including Toro Magazine, Spa Life Magazine Escapes, and CTV Morning Live Ottawa. "We produce about 30 to 40 per cent more oil than women do, so we have a lot more issues when it comes to things like [acne],” he says. “We have to be careful even with waxing and manscaping, how our bodies react afterwards."

Bright sunlight pours into the front lounge of Bodé's Toronto location, which features earthy yet ultramodern décor. Technicians lead patrons to private treatment rooms where facials are customized to each man's skin type and issues, such as beard burn or permanent lipstick marks. Masculine tranquility can also be found in a tailored mani-pedi, full-body hair removal using waxing and sugaring, and soon-to-be-offered laser hair removal treatments.
