Defensive Arts Training Centre offers four class types: kickboxing, mixed martial arts, Brazilian jujitsu, and kids' martial arts. In mixed-martial-arts classes, masters teach a combination of moves from various disciplines, such as karate, judo, and muay thai. Meanwhile, youth aged 4–18 progress between belts by grappling and self-defense in kids classes. Brazilian jujitsu instructors impart a foundation for practical defense that involves submission holds and shadow-puppet decoys, while kickboxing participants build strength as they work up a full-body sweat.

Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
Clients receive an individualized exercise program that is tailored to their specific goals, a M.O.G. Fitness Evaluation and Score, unlimited access to exercise classes, and personalized nutrition plan. We make people comfortable with their workout program and show them exercises that will maximize their time at the gym. We care about our clients. We want them to be successful in achieving their goals by giving them personal attention and keeping them motived and committed.
What is the biggest mistake you see people make when trying to get fit on their own?
Thinking that fad workouts and diets will solve their problems.
Typically, at Fit2Box Fitness Studio, you'll only see one or two people working out. But don't mistake that number for a lack of interest: the absence of a crowd is by design. In order to create an intimate space where clients can focus solely on exercising and then flexing in the mirror, ACE-certified personal trainer Eric Pfahler only schedules one client or couple per hour. During that hour, Pfahler's background in boxing becomes apparent, as his fitness programs combine kickboxing and boxing movements with strength training and cardio exercises.
Pride Martial Arts' signature MMA classes blend elements of muay thai kickboxing, Brazilian jujitsu, and tae kwon do into fast-paced workouts open to ages 4 or older. Regardless of experience level, the sessions teach fighters techniques for punching, kicking, and other self-defense essentials, but they also encourage something more holistic, which the veteran teachers dub "the black-belt lifestyle." Achievable for students of any level, it hinges on discipline, hard work, and both mental and physical health?life skills that are helpful outside the dojo, too.
At World Class Tae Kwon Do Centers, instructors teach discipline and self-defense skills in classes for kids, adults, and families. Following the principles of founder Grandmaster Sun Ki Chong, teachers help students develop not only technical martial-arts skills but also leadership abilities and mental focus.
