Fusion Photography specializes in artistic and organic fine-art portraits ideal for senior pictures, business headshots, and photos of brand-new babies. A one-hour photo session begins with a preshoot consultation to forge a common vision between subject and photographer (a $50 value), freeing the shutterbug to pursue mantle-ready images set against the in-home feel of the Fusion Photography studio. After capturing wild light and taming it with practiced technique and minor touch-ups, Fusion Photography traps customer-selected shots in two 5”x7” prints (a $64 value) and loads 10 retouched, printable images on a CD (a $400 value) ostensibly for posterity, but actually as fodder for dummy VIP passes to exclusive gatherings of high-flying librarians.
Over her years of training—some under award-winning Chicago plastic surgeon Dr. Steven H. Dayan—aesthetician Julie Kline has learned the power a simple skin treatment can do for a person's complexion. At her intimate studio within A Tamara Berry Studio, she calls on enzymes from natural sources to jump-start purification and renewal processes, and she anoints faces with more advanced chemical peels to obliterate the signs of aging. Some of her treatments don't require a single touch: when adjusted to a precise color, her range of light therapies can kill blemish-causing bacteria, boost the production of wrinkle-banishing collagen, or spotlight a talented freckle with Broadway aspirations. Microcurrent facials use painless low-level lasers to firm and tone facial muscles. Julie uses the skincare tools she's assembled to customize her treatments to each client's individual skin issues, whether they involve acne, sun damage, aging, or another aesthetic problem.

The computer-savvy artists at Expansive Art go beyond the camera lens, incorporating specialized software and high-tech equipment to tell the unique story of a person or family. The team at the photography studio specializes in creating photographic studies: a planned series of poses designed to elicit the subject's true character. A designer chooses the lighting and props, and a director oversees the entire process, guiding the photographer and subject through the expressive poses. Finally, a digital artist enhances the sequential shots with advanced software, creating special effects or textual additions. The crew frequently uses greenscreens during playful senior-photo shoots that cast the impending graduates as ninjas, vampires, or carbon copies of their parents, who they will someday become. The company's separate, 8,000-square-foot show room displays a variety of decorative art, including reusable "wall tattoos" and photos backlit with LED displays. Guests can admire the large, colorful pieces while sipping a coffee at the in-house café.
