The certified yoga instructors at Sol Yoga Burlington believe in the value of connecting to the self and to others, and in achieving spiritual wholeness. They help their students work toward that state with more than 20 classes per week in their newly built hot yoga studio. In addition to standard classes, hot classes are held in the detoxifying warmth of far infrared light, which helps people sweat, breathe easily, and heat leftover soup. Learn the basic poses in a Fundamentals class, or turn things up in a Level 2 session, where students flow though a series of challenging poses for a more intense workout. There are also frequent workshops and teacher training sessions, and you can drop off the kids at the onsite childcare center.
Alexandra Evans knows firsthand the myriad benefits of Bikram yoga. After discovering the exercise form while living in Japan, the director of Bikram Yoga Hamilton Dundas noticed a marked change in her skin, physique, and ability to reach cans of green beans on a high shelf. Following certification and teaching stints in cities throughout Canada and in Mumbai, India, Evans established her 3,000-square-foot studio in Dundas as a place to share her teachings with enthusiastic students, helping them build muscle tone, burn calories, and centre their minds.
The grappling gurus at Gravity Climbing Gym take a friendly approach to instruction during their Indoor Rock 101 class, stressing fun over heights achieved and safety over everything. Knowledgeable instructors outfit ascendant amateurs in a harness and shoes before showing them the ropes, knots, and belay skills required to scale with safety and success. Like medical school, a single lesson at Gravity equips students with enough information to strike out on their own. After completing the lesson, newly christened climbers are free to roam the gym and test their technique on Gravity's varied climbing walls.

Infrared heating panels raise the temperature of Hot Yoga Wellness's yoga studios to 37 degrees Celsius—the body's natural temperature—heating up muscles for deeper stretches while helping to rid bodies of toxins. During each class, certified instructors guide students of all levels through breathing techniques and poses designed to reduce stress, increase circulation, and lower blood pressure. Although class types vary slightly between locations, they typically include Vinyasa flow, traditional hot Hatha, and therapeutic yoga, during which students release long-held tension and attempt to interpret their yoga mat's dreams. To shake up regular yoga routines, some locations feature aerial yoga, in which practitioners are suspended in poses above the ground, and yoga Pilates, which gracefully blends the two stretch-centred modalities. Many locations also offer wellness treatments, such as reflexology, massage, and nutritional guidance, to further students along in their journeys to overall health.
