Thousands of fashionistas flock to StyleFixx Premier Shopping Events to meet up-and-coming independent fashion designers and browse the latest styles. This year’s displays include the 2012 lines of Hivernage NYC, Bling Boutique, and Cimber Designs. In between shopping sprees, attendees may relax with complimentary beauty treatments such as hair services by Dellaria Salons, makeovers by Virginn Pure Mineral Makeup, and body wraps by good-natured mummies. Once pampered, refreshed guests mingle while sipping free cocktails and munching on samples from Finale Desserts and Haru Sushi, and each partygoer receives a StyleFixx Swag Bag loaded with product samples.
In 1995, Jeff Popkin was tired of hearing about parties only after they happened. Being a fan of parties, he did not appreciate this, and he imagined other people shared his sentiment. He started Boston Event Guide, a website that aggregates upcoming bashes in one place including some of the top booze cruises in Boston such as the Summer Party Cruise. In addition to posting events such as fashion shows at the Liberty Hotel, party cruises, and beer-and-chocolate tours, he and his staff send out a weekly newsletter that highlights top events that are ideal for company outings, birthdays, or group parties.
Seasoned boat captains and crustacean prospectors Sig Hansen, Johnathan Hillstrand, and Andy Hillstrand gather to share with audience members their tales of struggle and survival during crab season on the high seas, as partly documented by the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch. Fishing the Bering Sea in the middle of winter demands strong wills—which can come together in times of treacherous weather and 100-foot waves or come to blows about who performs better in the three-legged crabwalk race. Selected audience members will also have the chance to don the survival suits from the Time Bandit. Following the story-swapping and previously unreleased video footage, greenhorns and avid fans will have the opportunity to launch questions at the captains, wave giant foam claws, and learn how to communicate in claw-snap Morse code.

What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
The Annual League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair is the oldest annual crafts fair in the nation. The fair features contemporary and traditional fine crafts by over 350 League–juried craftsmen, including colorful pottery, hand-blown glass, framed wood-block prints, beautiful bowls in all sizes, decorative scarves, and the largest variety of handcrafted jewelry. It is a stunning collection of fine craftspeople who have met the League’s standards of excellence. The fair also features educational craft demonstrations so that visitors can see how fine crafts are made, and workshops so they can make their own treasure.
What special training do you or your staff have?
The craftsmen who are participating in the fair have gone through the League's rigorous jury standards for craft excellence.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
The fair provides an interactive way to explore the world of craft making, including seeing pieces made from clay, wood, metal, glass, and fiber. Being able to meet the artists and learn about their techniques and inspiration for their craft is a one-of-a-kind experience.
Beantown Pub Crawls commemorates the joy of the holidays with a few good beers and some celebratory strolls through Boston. Bringing revelers to some of the city's most beloved watering holes, Beantown's organized crawls ensure that holidays—including Valentine's Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Christmas—can be celebrated on more than just one day. The Ugly Sweater Crawl encourages participants to don tastelessly festive threads as they help raise money for Toys for Tots, and previous events, such as Halloween's Costume Crawl, have involved significantly more outlandish duds.
