Music seems to be a perpetual source of energy at Hot Skates Roller Skating Center. During public skate times, you might find participants wheeling around
the wooden rink to the tunes of Radio Disney and the Top 40 charts. Up to 500 skaters can take to the rink at any given time, which often turns things into a rolling party. On special nights,
themes take over, giving visitors the chance to skate to an all-night
Michael Jackson tribute or gospel tunes on first Mondays.
In addition to playing fun music and serving up pizza at the cafe, staffers also teach skating lessons. Hot Skates Roller Skating Center also houses an arcade with more than 20 games, including redemption machines that reward gamers with tickets and the occasional "I like you just the way you are" in a robot voice.
Reisterstown Sportsplex seamlessly melds competitive fire and ice with a regulation NHL skating rink and a similarly spacious indoor field for lacrosse and soccer. Since opening in 2008, the facility has expanded to host both serious and recreational events, from birthday parties and broomball matches to figure-skating lessons and hockey leagues for all ages. The center frequently hosts open public-skating hours, giving fledgling figure skaters the chance to prepare for real-world, high-pressure job interviews at the local RollerBurger.
At the Columbia Association, visitors find not only a place to work out, swim, or enjoy the great outdoors, but a place to connect with the local community and get to know their neighbors. form with practice at indoor and outdoor tennis courts, or regular trips to the high-tech Columbia Gym. Columbia Association also helps its members maintain a healthy lifestyle with a wide variety of facilities, including nearby golf courses, 23 swimming pools, and even an attached horse center, where humans can learn to ride and horses can get in shape for
On York City Ice Arena's two 85'x200' NHL-sized rinks, both kinds of on-ice athletes live in harmony; hockey players compete in multiple tournaments every year, and figure skaters twirl with finesse during regular public-skating sessions. Instructors also host lessons for newcomers of all ages, helping students with their footwork, forward crossovers, and maintaining their balance while using one skate to pick their teeth. Beyond the twin tundra, the arena contains several amenities for casual visitors and persistent athletes, including a pro shop, snack bar, and fitness center.
