When Doctor of Chiropractic Kayla Davis tells her patients she's from Correctionville, some of them think she's being ironic, like when a plumber claims he's the Mayor of Pipetown. But Correctionville is a real place—a small town on the western side of Iowa. Having grown up there, Dr. Davis internalized many small-town traits, such as trust and a friendly disposition—both of which she uses to get to know her patients at Kay Family Chiropractic.
But friendliness alone won't heal pain. To do that, Dr. Davis applies low-risk chiropractic adjustments and massages, each calibrated to stimulate the body's self-healing abilities. She relies on these techniques in lieu of medication and surgery, which only target the symptoms of the problem instead of the source.
Doctor of Chiropractic Joe Stevens specializes in the Gonstead technique, a discipline centered on detailed assessments and precise adjustments. He uses it to fight vertebral subluxations, a term for when the movable bones of the spinal cord become misaligned and end up pinching nerves. And because these subluxations can occur at any point throughout life, Dr. Stevens trained with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association to gain the expertise required to help children, whose spines often become misaligned after they start to play sports or give piggyback rides to heavy imaginary friends. He's also currently racking up additional pediatric certifications.
One of the main contributing factors that makes Dr. Chris Jacobi such a successful chiropractor is that he's been involved with athletics for most of his life. Playing several sports in high school and college helped him better understand how the body works and how the muscles interconnect - experience that he applies to everyone he treats. With that base of knowledge to inspire him, he went on to earn his doctorate of chiropractic degree before entering the field and to establish a practice that focuses on connecting with clients on a personal level to fulfill their unique needs. As his practice has grown, so have his treatments, which now encompass mechanical massage to help relax muscles, stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as chiropractic adjustments.
