Golf in North Ogden

Designed by U.S. Open champion Johnny Miller, Stonebridge's Scottish-links-style course features 27 holes designed to test your swing and backstroke. The course's namesake red-rock bridges arch over and beside three tough nines, each almost 3,600 yards long, making this one of the longest courses in the state. With 20 of the holes adjacent to water, it's also one of the most pond-besotten. Three smaller teeing areas complement the harder drives, and small streams coil beside some the course's 93 sand bunkers.

The rye-grass fairways at Eagle Lake Golf Course twine around three ponds and a smattering of bunkers. As nine-hole rounds commence, golfers face a long, wide fairway that encourages long drives, and the fifth hole’s dogleg left calls for expertly dispatched curve balls. The course’s driving range boasts 20 covered stalls, lighted from April through October; 8 of them are heated for hatching golf balls into chicks during the winter. A putting green, chipping green, and 60-yard pitching green round out the practice area, and guests can also take advantage of professional guidance in lessons.

Eagle Lake Golf Course also offers mining-themed miniature golf for the entertainment of smaller-scale gamers. The course's 18 holes of putt-putt wend past diminutive waterfalls and around three mountains, including a 12-foot peak with mine shafts and mining carts.

Mulligan Golf and Games' driving range, open day and night, unfurls 33 covered hitting areas so golfers can practice their strokes and acquire the accuracy to peg their neighbors' rooftop satellite dishes. During golf lessons, Jeff Wathen and other PGA golf professionals analyze swings and approaches using years of experience as well as the latest in video and computer teaching aids. Baseball and softball players can also club white orbs into the sky from eight slow- and fast-pitch batting cages.

Ben Lomond Golf Course's 18-hole layout challenges golfers to send shots soaring against a dramatic backdrop dominated by Ben Lomond Peak and the Wasatch Mountains. Relatively open fairways invite golfers to unveil towering drives before a gauntlet of obstacles demands deft iron play, delicate putting, and experienced sea legs in order to tame the undulating greens. A water fountain on Hole 6 highlights the front nine as it shoots water high into the air against the peaks in the distance, distracting golfers with a postcard-worthy scene as they cruise around in GPS-equipped carts. On the back nine, the par 3 10th hole intimidates players with the precipice of a 210-yard tee shot alongside Highway 89, where street-legal golf carts and speeding ice-cream trucks can easily break a player's focus.

The designers of Toad's Fun Zone envisioned an indoor and outdoor play paradise that could enthrall visitors both young and old. To accomplish their plan, they filled a 4,300-square-foot arena with a wide range of attractions, including fire-and-ice laser tag and an arcade with more than 50 games. Outdoors, they complement their indoor black-light mini-golf course with two additional courses featuring brightly colored versions of traditional putt-putt standbys, including a fairy-tale castle, a farm windmill, and a to-scale Death Star. Back inside, snack-shop cooks flit about the kitchen slinging menu items such as pizzas, sandwiches, and salads.

At the base of a highland ridge overlooking the Ogden Valley, Wolf Creek Utah Golf Course showcases an 18-hole track that is both challenging and charming. Surrounded by rugged vistas of nearby mountains, the course attracts recreational and, since 1990, professional golfers, who compete in the annual Utah Golf Association Championship for bragging rights for the player with the fastest caddy rickshaw. It features water hazards that come into play on 13 holes, as well as doglegs on holes 3, 5, and 12. The ninth hole, rated the course’s most difficult, is a 579-yard straightaway with a narrow, tree-lined fairway and a green that is protected by water in the front, bunkers in the back, and a territorial flagstick that growls at incoming putts.
