Students at Sports Yoga M2 learn to bend and stretch under the watchful eye of Mark Maldonado, a yogi with more than a decade of experience. Maldonado's small class sizes ensure that he and his fellow instructors can pay close attention to students' form as they progress at their own pace.
Despite the strengthened core she’d gained while obtaining a Pilates certification, Jennifer Martin found her balance and flexibility taxed when she attended her first ever hot-yoga class. Now, she heads Bodhi Hot Yoga, where students chart the same progress through Vinyasa-style poses tweaked to cultivate toned muscles and increased balance. Performed in heated studios that encourage detoxification and increased pliancy, hot yoga sessions also help students of all fitness levels promote weight loss, increase vitality, and reduce pent-up stress. Classes take place multiple times daily, with private sessions available upon request.
The supportive teachers at Yoga Palm Beach pursue the studio?s mission to improve each student?s overall well-being with a schedule of yoga classes that accommodates all skill levels. Founder Karen Burnett and Studio Manager Lizzy Moore lead the way as visitors stretch out their bodies during Vinyasa sessions that synchronize breath and movement; Vinyasa Power Hour sessions that improve strength, flexibility, and stamina; and free Connected Warriors sessions for active, inactive, and retired members of the military.
Sisters Sara and Leah are on a perpetual scavenger hunt. They live in pursuit of shri, which translates to sweetness or loveliness—a peace that can stem from practicing yoga and meditation. Alongside several other instructors, they combine flowing postures with inward reflection, hoping to achieve a more serene outlook both on and off their mats. To that end, they welcome students of any experience level to join them.
Their 75-minute group classes tend to synchronize breath with movement during alignment based yoga sequences. The classes stress proper alignment and self-awareness, meeting under names like Align & Flow and Flow & Let Go. Special workshops hone in on a specific aspect of practice, like how to do a proper headstand, and a bi-weekly session called The Conversation elicits discussions on life, personal challenges, and yoga philosophies. Those who desire a more personalized approach can also sign up for The Shri Life. This six-week program supplements private yoga tutoring with group lessons and journal writing, the purpose being to develop a person's physical practice and mindfulness simultaneously.
Kristen Lemoine always had a passion for the arts, a passion which found a new form of expression when she started to design fitness clothing. As a veteran gymnast, Kristen understood how clothing needed to move to let the body be at its most flexible. It turns out her designs, and her enjoyment of exercise, translated well to yoga. Ultimately, she decided to join her ongoing fitness practice and design business into a single venture, PB Athletic Wear & Yoga, where she outfits aspiring yogis as they head into classes.
The team of teachers at PB leads a true variety of yoga; they helm 15 types of yoga classes, in fact. They practice basic hatha, vinyasa, and yin yoga alongside more modern variations, such as aerial yoga, which uses fabric slings attached to the ceiling to support parts of the body.
