The 18-hole course at King's Gate Golf Club encompasses 3,176 yards of meticulously landscaped Florida terrain. A round on the par 60 course challenges irons with 12 par 3 holes ranging from 105 to 175 yards, interspersed with scenic par 4 holes that dip and careen through the serene surroundings of nearby nature reserves, navigable by the included cart rental, by foot, or by GPS-enabled centaur. Monday through Saturday, golfers fuel up with hot dogs and beer for two, and on Sunday, links lovers feast on a breakfast of two eggs, bacon strips, toast, and hash browns before chipping their way to victory or swatting their way to exhaustion.
Like most success stories, Leader's Casual Furniture didn't start at the top. Founded in a single west Florida show room in 1971, the company now boasts 19 retail show rooms, a 150,000-square-foot distribution center, and an ever-increasing selection of rattan, wicker, and patio furniture. Upon browsing the virtual show room, visitors find rattan dining sets, beds, and entertainment centers as well as wicker tables with stone or glass tops. Custom fabrics and tropical-themed pieces add personal flair to interiors or exteriors, and an online room plannerhelps customers get a feel for how chosen pieces will fit into their homes.
Tito Gaona's Flying Trapeze Academy defies gravity and provides both beginning sky soarers and naturally airborne gymnasts with expert instruction in flexible flight. Take to the trapeze bar in semi-private class sessions of five to eight students, gliding with newly met friends or toting along your long-lost alter ego or barbershop quintet. Learn the basic swing, dangling deftly from arms and swaying from knees, and then follow up with introductory tricks such as executing taut frontward and backward kicks with limber limbs. For comfortable swingers, the class applies advanced skills such as the catch and return, which involves swinging toward your trapeze partner before flipping over the bar, swiftly grabbing your compatriot's people paws, vacillating back to your perch, and then gracefully fluttering into the springy net below. Sessions are an excellent workout as well as a great way to regain lost confidence in your acrobatic companion after that unfortunate hot-potato incident. Classes are held Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Dustin Edwards and Stefanie Ink-Edwards wanted a new way to raise money for worthy causes, but they wanted to do it in a way that promoted active lifestyles. The answer was simple—start a non-profit mud run, and donate all of the proceeds to charity. They established the South Florida Mud Run, which sends waves of runners sprinting through 5 kilometers of mud and obstacles. Both man-made and natural, the obstacles range from mud crawls and tire walls to plank bridges and water pits. 100% of the proceeds go to benefit the Southwest Florida Children’s Hospital.
