Clare Gales has two loves—dance and fitness. The devoted dancer and expert trainer opened Studio 82 in 1986, where she combined her two passions by hosting both fitness and dance classes on the studio's expansive hardwood floors. Today, Clare and her staff of professional dancers and fitness professionals continue to lead students of all ages in more than 100 different classes that range from ballet to cardio kickboxing.
An abundance of internationally renowned dancers and top instructors have passed through the studio's doors over the course of its 26 years, guiding youngsters and adults alike through the footwork and form of styles such as ballet, jazz, and hip-hop. Certified fitness instructors conduct a variety of energetic classes, interspersing a schedule of high-intensity cardio classes with strength-training workouts and rejuvenating yoga and Pilates sessions. The studio's diverse range of classes attracts an equally diverse group of clients that includes aspiring dancers, fitness seekers, and future brides preparing for the wedding dance or bulking up for the ceremonial arm-wrestling match against the groom’s mother.
Golf: Inside & Out’s resident golf guru David Geier offers a comprehensive approach to golf training, helping golfers on their path to mastering the technical, tactical, physical, and mental elements of the game. As players pulverize golf balls at the studio’s indoor hitting bays, the watchful instructor observes and analyzes each swing with video technology. Golf students benefit from watching a video of their swings in slow motion, helping them understand nuggets of corrective advice and sympathize with brutally compressed golf balls. Geier also teaches principles of course management, physical training, and the mental and emotional training necessary to execute golf shots on a subconscious level, a process which can incorporate hypnotherapy.
Golf: Inside & Out also helps aspiring Arnold Palmers refine their skills with advanced club-fitting services. The shop's high-tech module evaluates customers' putts and swings, then tailors a custom blueprint that helps determine correct shaft flex, launch angle, and grip size. The device can also clarify the most compatible ball for a particular club.
Since taking her first choreographed step in kindergarten, Amy Stauffer has danced behind Britney Spears, the Orlando Magic basketball team, and Mickey Mouse. After leaping across stages on the Hit Me Baby One More Time Tour and Disney's Magic Kingdom, she began tutoring the twirling arts at her own studio—a venue that the Sun News praises for its imaginative classes. Amy welcomes adults and children alike to "dance the difference" through jazz, ballet, tap, cheer, and courses where parents and their kids bond through partnering up. Her staff patrols the studio's sprung floors as they train groups for annual recitals and competitions. Every instructor broadcasts a positive attitude during their sessions, approaching dance as a flexible and creative exercise for personal development rather than a means to distract spelling-bee opponents.
Rumor has it the maniacal laughter, sobs, and screams of ghosts echo throughout CornStalkers Haunted Cornfield and Forest's 1-acre cornfield. Fifteen-minute strolls down its easy-to-follow trail lead brave guests through rows of 7-foot stalks teeming with scarecrows looking for new brains to show off in Oz. Foreboding also hangs over the 5-acre forest, where flesh-eating zombies, creepy creatures, and spooky effects petrify patrons making the half-hour trek down its gravel path. Visitors that survive the cornfield and forest's PG-13-level scares can regain their bearings with snacks from the concessions stand.
Dancing Classrooms Northeast Ohio (DCNEO), which builds confidence, respect, and self-esteem through the practice of social dance, aims to help youth break down social barriers and learn to communicate with a new set of behavioral skills. Teaching artists lead classes of fifth- and eighth-grade students through 10 weeks of ballroom-dancing lessons that are held twice a week during the normal school day. To make lessons accessible and ease children into a new endeavor, they incorporate pictures and stories and connect dance terms to food, transforming feet into chopsticks and dance frame into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. In addition to dance, DCNEO also enriches children’s education with opportunities to create visual artwork, poetry, and original songs. At the end of the course, students showcase their dancing skills and other projects completed during the program at a performance for friends and family.
