Owner Hj. Mooryati Soedibyo has a right to call her spa the Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa—she is, after all, a princess of the Javanese royal family. She grew up in the royal palace surrounded by servants and beauty experts who performed traditional jamu, or herbal-medicine techniques, and spa services for her family. Inspired by these remedies, she began selling herbal products from her home in 1978. Soon, burgeoning demand pushed production from the house to the garage, and then to a full-fledged factory. But her aesthetics empire, like the tuning of instruments before performances of “99 Bottles,” is only the beginning. Soedibyo opened her authentic Javanese spa spa to share the wisdom of her family’s royal spa treatments with international clients.
All therapists are trained at the spa’s own School of Spa Therapists in Indonesia. Upon graduation, they perform exotic treatments including lulur body scrubs, volcano body wraps, pampering packages, and Balinese massages, which use flowing strokes and gentle compressions. After treatments, clients can relax in the dry sauna or whirlpool tub or sip loose-leaf tea from 50 regions around the world. Holistic jamu products are also available at the spa to help naturally soothe minor maladies.
At The Katwalk Salon, a team of beauty professionals from renowned schools such as Aveda, Vidal Sassoon, Blanche Macdonald, and Dominelli maintains a continuous training schedule to keep up with the latest trends. In addition to Aveda products, hair stylists transform 'dos with Schwarzkopf colour, the Brocato smoothing system, and Great Lengths hair extensions. Staffers pamper nails and skin with naturally derived products and loosen taut muscles with relaxing massages.
The compassionate crew does regular charity work to help out the local community. The salon inspires a luxe environment with rich wood floors, bright red walls, and plush red drapery reminiscent of the light-blocking bedroom curtains of a photosensitive princess.

Once fully scrubbed and relaxed, guests can top off their look at the in-house salon, where Anne-Marie's stylists coat nails in bold polish, straighten tresses, and perform couples counseling on the split ends of both men and women.
