Senses come alive when sitting on the plush red couches at Kasbah Hookah Lounge. The sounds of DJs spinning tracks sync with the rhythmic movements of exotically clad belly dancers roaming from table to table, weaving through clouds of aromatic hookah smoke. Customers can puff on more than 85 flavor combinations of the house’s 24 Starbuzz shishas, including classic options such as mango, or pairings such as honey, vanilla, and mint. The house also crafts their own signature blends for the five VIP flavors, including cinnamon toast crunch, which pairs apple, cinnamon, and banana. Bottles of wine and pints of beer accompany hookahs on the table, providing all of the fillers for a comfortable night out without having to lug around childhood teddy bears.

The dramatically draped ceilings inside Zacharys glow with blue, green, and pink lights, adding luxe atmosphere to the nightclub's popular Saturday night dance party. The dance floor thumps as special guest DJs spin a mix of current dance hits and classics, which pulsate from a state-of-the-art sound system while a light show on the dance floor dazzles eyes. In between songs, partygoers can hit the bar for a top-shelf cocktail or order bottle service complete with mix-ins and garnishes.?The energetic atmosphere promises to make everything from a night out with friends to a birthday party memorable. In an effort to help recapture the elegant feel of nightclubs from the past, Zacharys has an upscale dress code; men are encouraged to wear collared shirts and shoes, and fill one pocket with a tiny emergency bowtie.

Adding the right seasonings can make or break a meal, and no one knows that better than Jeff Bacchas. So when the native of Negril, Jamaica, opened his Long Island eatery, he named it Spices Negril Restaurant & Lounge. The menu is a tribute to the power of a little creative spicing. The popular jerk chicken wings are marinated and saut?ed in a blend of more than seven herbs and spices, and a goat dish gets its kick from being slow-cooked in a spicy curry sauce. Even the "rasta pasta"?penne with peppers, onion, and garlic?comes topped with blackened seasoning. Diners can balance their meals with a sweet island cocktail, such as the Peach Schnapps?based Jolly Jamaican. Of course, the other way the restaurant spices up its meals is with live entertainment. The lounge hosts calypso and reggae performers throughout the week, including DJs and the reggae band Inner Roots.

A resurrection of Al B. White’s 1939’s vaudeville landmark, the “new” Retro Lounge serves up a menu courtesy of executive chef Nilka Hendricks, best known for her work on season seven of Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen. Chef Hendricks' diverse array of palette-pleasing dinner dishes ranges from the grilled rib-eye steak rubbed with jamaican jerk seasoning ($23) to the zesty shrimp and crab enchiladas with saffron rice and a lobster bisque sour cream sauce ($14). At lunch, guests can build their own sandwiches from more than 50 different fillings culled from beasts of the land, sea, air, and soil ($4.25–$5.25), or gobble up a slew of salads ($6–$7.50) or gourmet paninis such as the Brooklyn Avenue, with veggies slathered in goat cheese, olive tapenade, and balsamic-honey ($6.75).

South Bay Market seamlessly blends freshly made sandwiches, salads, and prepared foods with the ambiance and ingredients of an upscale eatery. The counter houses prepared entrees such as pasta salads, Dr Pepper–coated ribs, and panko-crusted chicken cutlets. Behind the counter, a chef prepares custom salads by peppering greens with walnuts, mushrooms, avocado, or bacon and nestles turkey, roast beef, and grilled eggplant into sandwiches or wraps. While their food is being prepared, customers can browse a selection of drinks including juice or soda and snacks such as premier pretzels, north fork chips, or Tate's chocolate chip cookies before heading over to café tables to eat and play travel Twister.
