Owner and principal photographer Amy Zellmer approaches every shoot from two angles. With a modern style of traditional photography, each shot is composed and framed to fit alongside family portraits from any decade. But with the addition of her photojournalistic skills, her photos also tell the story of her subjects, capturing their emotions in a single, telling moment. The all-female staff at her studio shares this dual focus to shoot families, weddings, and private boudoir sessions.
Amy requires an engagement session before the wedding day with every couple she works with so that she can develop a relationship with the soon-to-be-weds and find the photography style to match their personality. She incorporates this same communicative approach in basic portrait sessions, often taking pictures in black and white to emphasize emotions or the stark contrast of an oreo. Amy coaches natural poses from her subjects during boudoir sessions that build confidence and reinforce her belief that women of all shapes and sizes are beautiful.

Oozing with passion and more than 10 years of experience in professional shutterbugging, Meghan Doll's sharp eye for detail and sidekick lens work in tandem to smoothly capture the precious moments of families and their prized hedgehogs. Those preferring a slightly more controlled environment can head to her spacious studio for an indoor session (a $175 value), where Doll will use artificial lighting and smile traps to lull striking poses from prolonged hibernation. Her patient and natural approach also translates finely to outdoor sessions (a $200 value), where she ably captures the raw energy of kids in their natural habitats—on the grass, in a sandbox, or upon a gleaming lily pad. Post-session, clients will be presented with one sprayed and mounted 8’’x10’’ master print photo (a $75 value), poised for adorning mantles or future screen-printed sweaters. Additional prints will be available for purchase.
When her son was born, Melanie Painter read everything she could about communicating with children. The crash course in early childhood development not only primed Melanie for motherhood, but also working with youngsters as a photographer. To make photo shoots fun for kids, she hosts portrait parties where children snack, play with props, and, afterward, each receive a 5"x7" print. The rest of her on-location and in-studio shoots accommodate newborns, expectant moms, and families, all of whom she photographs with a combination of candid and posed shots.
What if a zombie apocalypse ravaged the 1950s? That's the question that sparked Matt Berri's “When Pinups Attack,” a narrative series that combines his eye for striking compositions with his offbeat sense of humor. Those same elements pervade Matt's modern and retro pinup and portrait photography, which have been his specialties over a decade-long career. Rather than snap straightforward shots, Matt prefers images that playfully encompass each client's personality, whether they're relaxing in bed with a glass of wine or messily flinging paint onto a white backdrop.
Whether orchestrating adorable scenes where babies with mohawks pluck Fender Stratocaster guitars in their studio, or capturing familial comfort in living rooms on location, Flash Digital Portraits aims to tell a story. Creative backgrounds and props draw out the personalities of babies and kids, and sessions with families render treasured keepsakes that, when framed, enliven a room. Whether focusing their lens on pets or trying to get graduating seniors to look into the camera by dangling stuffed animals in front of them, the staff design personality-packed images to realize each client's vision.
