At amphitheaters, parks, and ice rinks throughout the city, Boulder Creek Events organizes get-togethers to inspire and connect community members. Each year, they bring more than 500 food vendors together with musicians and carnival rides for the Boulder Creek Festival. They also coordinate classic car shows and outdoor skating events. During the winter, BCE Productions fuels ice skaters with warm concessions, and during the summer the crew transforms the Twenty Ninth Street Plaza into a rink ideal for roller skates and guests with the latest trend in wheeled pedicures.

The sounds of slap shots and blades carving the ice resound through Big Bear Ice Arena as it sets the stage for visitors participating in hockey, figure skating, and a host of other games. Hockey programs for kids and adults follow the rules and regulations set forth by USA Hockey, which allows slap shots but not checking or doing burnouts in a Zamboni. When pucks aren't careening from board to board, figure skaters can glide out onto the ice for programs that range from a Learn to Skate class to competitive team events. Less competitive patrons, meanwhile, can log their time on the ice through games such as bandy and broomball or casual open skates.

Families frequent Boulder Valley Ice to glide across their NHL-size rink, participate in beginner skating lessons, and get their hockey fix with adult and 3 versus 3 leagues. They also hit the ice to celebrate birthdays and events complete with add-ons such as cake, ice cream, and reserved tables adorned in balloons and confetti made from the lost teeth of pro hockey players.

Over the course of Lace'em Up's three private lessons, an experienced instructor will cover the basics of skating, including the different parts of the blades, weight placement in the boots, and how to tell the left skate from the right skate. Beginner-level ice-carvers will then master the techniques of skating forward and backward, crossovers, transitional turns, speedy maneuvers, and stopping without the aid of walls or gravity. Each lesson's one-on-one attention ensures that skaters will stockpile skills at the fastest possible rate until they're capable of rocketing across the ice like a well-oiled dolphin on a Slip-n-Slide.

A South Suburban Parks and Recreation course, Family Sports Golf Course showcases a nine-hole, par 31 layout that loops around a two-tier driving range. True to its name, the course caters to all members of the family, including seasoned adults practicing their short game touch, beginning juniors making a smooth foray into the game, and grandmothers looking to back up claims of 350-yard drives. Renovated in 2009, the two-tier driving range invites players to hone their stroke on one of 25 grass tees or 30 tees that are covered, lighted, and heated year-round.
