Customers at West River Kayak & Canoe take their pick from a fleet of kayaks, canoes, and standup paddleboards to cruise down the 27-mile Vermilion-Lorain Water Trail, a Class I–II waterway. Turtles, beavers, and deer make their homes along the banks and occasionally dart out to greet travelers as shale cliffs rear up in the distance. The shop's staff ensures that even boating newbies can wend their way through the picturesque scenery by offering introductory tutorials before each rental to impart the basics of paddling, from how to turn to how to rub two paddles together to make a fire for roasting hot dogs.
Charles Mill Marina and Pleasant Hill Marina provide anglers and aquatic enthusiasts with a hearty fleet of vessels built for relaxing and cultivating fun in absurdly oversized puddles. Hover above 1,350 acres of fish air on one of Charles Mill Marina's fishing boats, which offer plenty of room for pond pirates to stretch and tan their sea legs. In a 16-foot Alumacraft fishing boat, up to four fish wranglers will have up to 24 hours to go after elusive largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, and saugeye. In addition to the bouquet of boating devices available, Charles Mill Marina also hosts a full selection of fishing tackle and live bait inside its shop.
There are parkland golf courses, and then there are golf courses set within the US National Parks System. The 18-hole layout at Astorhurst Country Club abuts Tinkers Creek in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where it immerses golfers in picturesque surroundings while challenging them to hit their way over elevation changes, think through strategic quandaries, and ignore cloud formations just begging to be interpreted. At 6,138 yards, the course doesn't overwhelm anyone with extreme length, relying instead upon challenges to shot-shaping, control, and discipline that keep the course accessible to every level of golfer.

Carried Away Recreation specializes in serene moments. Its customers can paddle a solo kayak down a gentle river where they glean a swath of green leaves. They can race across the Amish countryside on a bike rental and stop after mile five for a glass of Zinfandel from a local winery. If they want to take to the outdoors with friends, they rent a double kayak or a series of inner tubes to make floating a social experience. Cardio kayaking classes also blend natural beauty with physical exertion as a guide leads paddlers down twists in the river while shouting out Simon Says commands.
