Alan Predolin, chief instructor of 360 Krav Maga, doesn't pull any punches, unless he's clipping knees, poking throats, and disabling solar plexuses. Already trained in the martial arts by the age of 7, Alan first got a thirst for reality-based, applicable combat techniques when he was a teenage member of the Guardian Angels. While most kids his age were fighting pimples, Alan was fighting gang members and drug dealers in Hell's Kitchen and the South Bronx. When he was 21, the Italian Army sent Alan to Israel, where he discovered the self-defense art of krav maga and spent his years mastering and sharing its effective techniques.
Years later, Alan has become the guy that local and federal law-enforcement and military units flock to for teaching their recruits the art of quick self-defense. At the 360 Krav Magna schools—the only schools in Tustin, Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Orange County to be certified by Krav Maga Global of Israel—Alan's team of certified instructors instill students with the smarts to disarm and disable any viable threat at instinct speed. For those looking for a muscle-sculpting, fat-burning workouts with less eye-poking, 360 Krav Magna's instructors also specialize in intensive kickboxing classes that merge fitness and combat training.
Since Brad Wenneberg donned his first martial-arts uniform in 1971, it’s become his business attire as well as his athletic wear. After studying many forms and disciplines, Wenneberg opened his own school, American Marital Arts Academy, to teach Goju-Ryu to a new generation of students. That commitment continues through to the present, with more 10,000 students, including dozens of black belts, served over the past twenty years. Like many traditional martial artists, the instructors spend as much focus on mental discipline and self-confidence as on physical fortitude, skill, and splitting firewood for the winter. Shihan Wenneberg insists on a holistic approach, encouraging students to improve their social skills, perform better in school, and get into better shape to complement their training.
You don't have to be an Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter to train like one at UFC Gym. That's because instructors at the fitness haven teach the training techniques and mixed martial arts of the UFC during a wealth of classes and personal training sessions. Members can learn kicks, punches, and jabs during cardio box and combat challenge classes, and build formidable abs in Killer Core. In doing so, they'll develop the strength, muscle tone, and endurance to finally outrun the neighborhood bull.
Crystal Greene began her martial journey at the tender age of 4, studying the art of Seido karate developed by Tadashi Nakamura in 1976. After earning a third-degree black belt, she moved on to other forms of combat such as muay thai. Trips to tournaments in Australia, Japan, and New York helped hone her competitive edge before she settled down to earn her certification to teach kickboxing. Now, Crystal uses her skills and five instructors at Foxy and Fierce Women's Kickboxing to kick women's workouts into high gear while simultaneously grounding them with a practical self-defense education.
Though classes make use of the kicks and punches that comprise each of Crystal's martial arts, they also incorporate elements of Pilates, yoga, and strength conditioning to tone the overall body. Crystal's studio emulates a traditional Japanese dojo, with pristine hardwood floors and a space carefully appointed to enhance concentration with village elders who stand in the corners and whisper "Concentrate."
