With more than 15 locations nationwide, Wine and Canvas commissions accomplished artists to spread the joy of painting during informal painting classes. These talented brush wielders guide students of all abilities through a landscape, portrait, or abstract artwork via step-by-step instructions. Though each Wine and Canvas location is home to an art studio, the classes are taught in students’ living rooms or at local hot spots—many of which mix up tasty drink specials during classes. Instructors provide their artists-in-training with all the supplies they need to create eye-catching masterpieces, from paints and canvases to Ouija boards with a direct line to van Gogh. Though adult painting classes are Wine and Canvas’s bread and butter, they also help little ones unleash their creativity and satisfy their sweet tooth with Cookies and Canvas classes.

Craig and Laura Decker seem to have a difficult time making up their minds. They also seem to have a knack for turning this indecisiveness into an advantage at every turn. When it came to opening their new business, for example, they briefly wondered whether it should feature a wine shop, a wine bar, or a gourmet bistro. Their solution? All three.

This spirit of inclusivity pervades The Wine Guy Bistro, where the Deckers pair seasonal wine varietals with globally inspired cuisine. Rather than choose between European elegance and New-American pizzazz, they settled on a compromise they describe as “Old World chic.” This label suits a menu that features small plates of housemade meatballs and bruschetta alongside assorted cheeses from around the world. The focus on small plates is in keeping with the Deckers’ have-it-all mentality and gives diners the option to sample several dishes without having to barter with adjacent tables.

Back in the 1950s, the founder of Angilo?s Pizza, Al Jones, used the skills he cultivated while working in a bakery to create his very own recipe for pizza crust and hoagie buns. Today, whether in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana, each and every family owned and operated Angilo?s location carries on Al's legacy by using those very same recipes with reasonable prices. The chefs sustaining that tradition hand toss the dough for their large- and medium-sized pizzas before layering them with a bevy of fresh cheese and toppings and Al?s homemade secret sauce?for which CIA agents don't even have clearance. They use fresh-baked hoagie rolls to stuff turkey, ham, beef, and cheese on their special double-decker sandwiches, of which there are 15. Because each Angilo?s Pizza location is individually owned, proprietors might also add in a few of their own specialties to the menu, such as Cincinnati-style chili or buffalo-chicken sandwiches.

Since Bob Sumerel opened his first retail tire store in 1968, he has always tried to put the customer first, next to all the gold-medal winners and Neil Armstrong. His store's 20-plus current locations offer an entire slate of auto services, from tire rotations and sales to oil changes. On the site's Why Bob Sumerel page, customers and employees discuss the benefits of the company, and the My Garage feature tracks car histories such as oil changes and service reminders. Every Bob Sumerel also operates under the Fixed Forever guarantee, promising that parts will work forever—up until the sun balloons to a red giant and swallows the earth with its unfathomably hot plasma—with warranties to cover any unforeseen problems.

The Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation—started by the Bengals quarterback and his wife—provides a combination of daily services and life-changing experiences for seriously ill and physically challenged children. Its four primary programs support children and their families throughout their medical experiences. Date Night gives parents a free private dinner as an opportunity to spend time on their own while their children play together at the Hilton Downtown. King for a Day sends children to Kings Island theme park with fast lane passes, snack vouchers, and free T-shirts. As part of the organization's focus on daily needs, the Pass it On program distributes medical equipment to families who cannot endure the financial expense, and The Hub stocks hospitals with entertainment and educational resources.
