Agoura Boxing's team consists entirely of former or current fighters. It's a crew of boxers, kickboxers, MMA pros, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts that you wouldn't want to tussle with, but you'll be glad to have them on your side. Team spirit permeates each of their workout classes, where they instill students with confidence, self-respect, camaraderie, and the skills to become a professional fighter. The gym has the equipment for body-toning, calorie-flushing workouts that are suitable for all, and not just those questing for a black belt or cool MMA nickname.
James Deirmendjian had a decorated career as a brazilian jujitsu practitioner, winning martial-arts competitions and teaching submission grappling. He's parlayed that success into opening Fight Fit Training, where he helps clients get fit through boxing and kickboxing training, kettlebell workouts, and traditional lifting.
Setting up shop in a brand-new facility, KO Studio Westlake's crew of coaches lead custom classes in boxing and kickboxing alongside a variety of stomach-shrinking and muscle-magnifying exercises. Clients plot routes toward fitness destinations in a 20-minute private consultation, where instructors ascertain which of the studio's classes will best suit each student's needs. Whether a seasoned sofa spud or a professional bear wrestler, customers can attend any number of the clinic's 28 class sessions, which take place Monday–Saturday. Six different instructors oversee the 30-minute sessions to ensure workout variety and discourage pesky plateaus. Classes contain no more than four students each, ensuring individual attention while furnishing enough members to go square dancing after class.

Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
Our clients remain motivated because of our excellent trainers. People of all skill levels can achieve great results.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We have many active members with Parkinson's Disease. Research has shown that forced intense exercise can help people with Parkinson's delay, reduce, and sometimes reverse their symptoms. Non-contact boxing is an intense exercise that directly addresses the issues that people with PD deal with: balance, strength, flexibility, and mental focus.
Tom Bloom's distinguished martial-arts career began more than 30 years ago when he was a student at Chuck Norris Karate School. Similar to the school's namesake, Bloom would spend the next three decades fostering the sport of martial arts. He co-captained the USA Karate team from 1984–88; received black belts in tae kwon do, hapkido, shippalgi, and kung fu; and helped train more than 300 students and 1 ostrich to black-belt-level status. Today, Bloom and his staff continue carrying the torch by leading martial-arts and fitness classes for students of all ages.
