James Deirmendjian had a decorated career as a brazilian jujitsu practitioner, winning martial-arts competitions and teaching submission grappling. He's parlayed that success into opening Fight Fit Training, where he helps clients get fit through boxing and kickboxing training, kettlebell workouts, and traditional lifting.
Ghouls, goblins, angels, and bumblebee's trample through the friendly filth at the Conejo Valley Halloween Mud Run. Racers sweat in running spandex or costumes as they complete either a 5K or 10K course complete with hay bales to hurdle, walls to climb, and mud pits to throw incriminating evidence into. The prospect of warm showers greets racers as they finish, along with food vendors, exhibitors, and live music. Racers power through the muck in groups of 75–100 fellow crazies, each affixed with an electronic chip for accurate race timing.

What's the most radical physical transformation you've seen a client make?
I have had clients transform not only physically but mentally and emotionally, and [some have] beat illness through exercise and nutrition. We have had a significant drop in weight and body fat in both men and women who have been committed and stuck to our program. Every one is different ... we specialize in personalized service and keep you accountable and on track. We are not focused on the number on the scale?we are focused on sharing our knowledge that this is a lifestyle, not a fad. We push for natural decreases in weight and body fat through hard work and commitment. Extreme athletes banded together to design Spartan Races' intense courses orchestrated over standardized distances, each strewn with natural and man-made obstacles to test mind-body fitness, resilience, stamina, and strength, designed to leave participants exhausted and exhilarated. In waves of 200, runners collect smudges and stains as they perform box jumps, haul heavy sandbags, and juke feral linebackers.
