At Stafford Mixed Martial Arts, muay thai and Brazilian jiujitsu are tools toward building stronger mental attitudes, self-discipline, and confidence. A Pan-Am champion by age 14, chief instructor Liam Kerrigan emphasizes proper form and a positive philosophy as he molds fighters ages 4 and older. Sharing his experience from fights at the amateur, professional, and international level, Liam also offers training jeet kune do, the fighting system designed by martial arts pioneer Bruce Lee.
At Precision Gymnastics we believe gymnastics is much more than a sport. It provides for lessons in goal setting, self-esteem, motivation and pride. It teaches the courage to believe in ones-self; along with discipline and superior mental and physical fitness.
Professor Josh Madama learned the techniques he teaches directly from UFC Champion Matt Serra himself. Madama trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for more than 15 years, eventually earning his black belt from Serra Jiu Jitsu in Long Island. Now he passes along these lessons via hand-picked, dedicated instructors who are passionate about demonstrating proper takedowns, armbars, and escapes in classes including Brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, MMA, wrestling, and conditioning. Each class builds upon the last so that students grasp solid basics in addition to high-level sequences that emulate real-life scenarios. Students master self-defense and gain confidence as they learn how to overcome larger, stronger opponents.
Inside Wellington Martial Arts Academy’s well-lit studio, instructors teach students 4 and older how to strike with their fists, feet, elbows, and knees as they practice muay thai, a combat sport from Thailand. The studio also hosts cardio drills such as box jumps, wall scaling, and tire sledges to increase physical fitness.
Twisters Gymnastics’ dedicated staffers assist the physical and mental development of children via various gymnastics- and play-based activities within an 18,000-square-foot facility. An array of full-size Olympic equipment, including half a dozen balance beams, a pair of parallel bars, and a trio of trampolines guarded by gold-medalist kangaroos, aids in aerial and flexibility-enhancing pursuits. A pommel horse and still rings increase balance and build upper-body strength in older children, and an obstacle course, 30-foot slide, and play area—equipped with a ball pit and multihued tubes—keep tots entertained. Alongside birthday parties for energetic celebrants and guests, Twister Gymnastics hosts a plentitude of gymnastics and tumbling programs, ranging from one-hour courses to competitive teams. Twister Gymnastics also holds preschool gymnastics classes, summer-camp programs, open workout sessions, and somersault endurance contests in an anti-gravitational chamber.
