When LBI Surfing's certified instructors hold classes on the Jersey Shore, not only do they provide the necessary boards and wetsuits, but they get all ages and skill levels up and riding in their first session. To do this, the instructors impart surfing fundamentals in a setting customized to the students' ability, touching on balance, safety, and identifying the proper waves. But they go beyond traditional surfing, too. They're also certified in stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) and teach SUP classes alongside yoga classes. This is because they believe that the two sports complement each other, since both rely on core strength, coordination, mindfulness, and a lack of rusty metal hip joints.
At Precision Gymnastics we believe gymnastics is much more than a sport. It provides for lessons in goal setting, self-esteem, motivation and pride. It teaches the courage to believe in ones-self; along with discipline and superior mental and physical fitness.
Starting in 1998 in the Philadelphia suburbs, the women behind Art of Exotic Dancing have strutted and hip-rolled their way to the forefront of a surge of interest in fun, sensual movement. Dedicated to fostering a comfortable space where all participants feel safe, the certified instructors proffer encouragement and reassurance as they teach dances that emphasize self-expression, personal power, and natural movement. Women learn to dance to a full song during the 90-minute CoreMoves class, while the Signature Workshop fortifies confidence via flirtatious techniques such as sensual walking and slow-motion winking.
Just Dance Jersey transforms students' steps into mesmerizing dance routines. Students glide through all forms of partnered dancing in group classes to create well-rounded dancers. A team of experienced and certified professionals with accreditation from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance lead classes as well as private lessons tailored to each student.
To prepare for a big event, instructors first use consultation before teaching couples how to lead their wedding dance or have a memorable father-daughter dance. Instructors can even build a group bridal-party performance to infuse some extra fun into a couple's big day or to prove whose friends are the most fun. They'll help clients pick their music and take the dance-floor size into consideration before choreographing the dance, ensuring the moment goes off without a hitch.
Professor Josh Madama learned the techniques he teaches directly from UFC Champion Matt Serra himself. Madama trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for more than 15 years, eventually earning his black belt from Serra Jiu Jitsu in Long Island. Now he passes along these lessons via hand-picked, dedicated instructors who are passionate about demonstrating proper takedowns, armbars, and escapes in classes including Brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, MMA, wrestling, and conditioning. Each class builds upon the last so that students grasp solid basics in addition to high-level sequences that emulate real-life scenarios. Students master self-defense and gain confidence as they learn how to overcome larger, stronger opponents.
Inside Wellington Martial Arts Academy’s well-lit studio, instructors teach students 4 and older how to strike with their fists, feet, elbows, and knees as they practice muay thai, a combat sport from Thailand. The studio also hosts cardio drills such as box jumps, wall scaling, and tire sledges to increase physical fitness.
