Propulsion Pilates' instructors rely on the familiar Pilates contraptions that fill most studios, but they alter the time-tested workout regimen by incorporating it into a more modern style of circuit training. They combine sequences on the Reformer, Tower, and Wunda Chair with occasional cardio exercises and kettlebell work, creating challenging sessions that manage to refine technique while bolstering strength and flexibility. To keep classes teetering on the cuttingest of edges, the instructors attend at least two Pilates workshops every year to update their mental cache of fitness tricks, but they always leave a little disappointed that a flying Reformer machine appears to be at least another six months off.
At each of Crossroads Fitness' four locations throughout the Wastach Front, members of all ages build strong, healthy bodies through a regimen of group classes, personal training, and extensive wellness evaluations and health assessments. Registered dietitians and fitness experts help clients manage their fitness goals, while a schedule of BodyPump, Zumba, yoga, and resistance training burn away unwanted fat while building lean muscle. After leveling up their endurance and speed with sports-performance training or flexing their legs in a cycling class, members relax and rehabilitate muscles with on-site massage therapy.
BASICS Sports Medicine maximizes the performance of athletes through intense workouts with performance trainers. With the Summer Speed Pass program, students will learn proper mechanics and techniques to optimize their speed and agility. BASICS' Certified Performance Trainers use ground-based agility training and other sport-specific exercises to create customized sessions for participants of any skill level. During the eight-week program, clients will have unlimited visits during age-specified time slots, allowing many opportunities to interact with peers, who frequently push each other to be stronger and faster, like a cheetah driving a Ferrari down a steep hill with a strong tailwind.
Juxtapose's experienced instructors encourage students of all skill levels to bop and bend with up to 18 one-hour Pilates, Zumba, and Turbo Kick classes per week, held within a bright, spacious studio. Zumba takes a tangy approach to physical fitness by incorporating a mélange of Latin beats and choreography. This cardiovascular workout tones and sculpts bodies, emblazes calories, increases energy, and improves the knack for understanding non-English words on American currency. Opt for a calorie-burning Turbo Kick class, which blends kickboxing with dancing and musical accompaniment. Turbo Kick is an excellent way to jump-start a fitness routine, a fun way to meet new people while remaining active, and ideal for pounding unruly floorboards back into place.
The minute someone joins Lady Fitness, the staff wants them to know that everyone is in it together—they're here to help each individual member reach her goals. New clients immediately get a comprehensive fitness evaluation, then a trainer leads them on a tour of the gym, recommending the best programs along the way depending on one's needs. That partnership doesn’t end there—once you've signed up for a program, the staff can help you track your progress, and you're allowed to come back to the staff after 16 weeks to reevaluate.
Members have access to Lady Fitness’s cardio center and weight machines, which are designed especially for women’s bodies. Instructors also lead group fitness classes including yoga and sculpting. During Zumba, everyone gets moving to the tune of a Latin-inspired dance-party workout, and kickboxing students can pummel real punching bags instead of backpacks filled with packing peanuts. There are also childcare facilities onsite––including options for free daycare––and all of Lady Fitness’s locations offer fun kids' fitness classes to help young ones learn the importance of staying active early on.
Merpati Putih is an ancient Indonesian practice that combines fitness, breathing exercises, meditation, and self-defense. Highly trained instructors Nate and Mike Zeleznick’s passion and respect for the martial art have culminated in MP USA. At the accredited Merpati Putih martial-arts school, they pass on these skills in classes for children and adults of any fitness level, drawing from their work with high-ranking Merpati Putih specialists. Beyond teaching technical skills, sessions for adults focus on overall fitness and bolstering the connection between mind and body, and kids’ classes impart values such as self-confidence, manners, and responsibility. The Zeleznicks also arm women with the tools to defend themselves in self-defense classes.
